The youth was also a Christian, but so weak was his faith, and so many were his temptations, that he told the minister he did not think he would be able to stand life a week longer. The minister took from his pocket a Bible and a penknife and said, "See, I will make this penknife stand up on the cover of this Bible, in spite of the rocking of the train." The young man, thinking that this was some conjuring trick, watched the proceeding with interest, saying, "I am afraid that it will not be very easy to do that, sir." "But," said the minister, "I am doing it." "Oh, but you are holding it," retorted his fellow passenger. "Why of course. Did you ever hear of a penknife standing up on its end without being held up?" "I see," was the young man's comment. "I see you mean St. Peter Lutheran to teach me that I cannot stand unless Christ holds Church me. Honna Schloss, Pastor Sherry Julian, Reporter The Church Alive 506 N. 9th St. Petersburg Sunday morning worship 10 a.m.; Wednesday night worship 7 p.m. We are an Independent Full Gospel Church that welcomes all people to come and worship God freely. Are you looking for a church that preaches the Bible, believes in the gifts of the Spirit in operation and teaches that the Five Fold Ministry is needed for the perfecting of the saints? Pastors Mark and Sandy welcome you to come and help us take back and restore the broken people and reach out for souls to be saved and lives changed. Discernment is something we can expect as we grow closer to God. It allows us to penetrate the surface of a thing and see into deep areas of it. Things are not always the way they appear to be, so discernment is a valuable thing to have. If we possess a discerning mind and heart, we will avoid a lot of trouble. I encourage you to pray for discernment on a regular basis. Don't make decisions according to mental knowledge alone. Do an internal check and see what discernment wants to say to you. (Proverbs 2:3-5). Hope to see you in church. Mark Davis, Pastor Greg Davis, Asst. "One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money" (Luke 16.10-13). Be in prayer this week for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders and always each other. God's blessings on you this week.
