...WITHOUT WHOM THIS ISSUE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE SEPTEMBER 2013 mitchell wilburn Mitchell Wilburn is a food writer, critic, and one lucky guy in getting to interview some of the biggest names in the Wolfgang Puck restaurant group at Tacos & Tequila in the Luxor for our "On the Town" story. What do you enjoy about living here? Getting to witness a real food revolution, a gourmand renaissance, in my hometown. How was your interview at T&T? I was really happy to interact with these two amazing movers and shakers in the food world. Have you eaten at their restaurant Spago? I just dined at their sister restaurant, CUT. That place is out of this world, and I chronicled my experience at EatingLV.com. danielle nussbaum 42 ronda churchill Award-winning photographer Ronda Churchill shot our "On the Town" story at Tacos & Tequila. Her work has appeared in Billboard magazine, The New York Times, and many other publications. How long ago did you move to Vegas from St. Louis? Nine years ago. It is an exciting city, and it's a hub for travel, which is a passion of mine. I can snowboard in Utah, hike in canyon country, or swim in the Pacific, all in a day's trip. Did you enjoy the shoot at Tacos & Tequila? The food looked delicious. I'd like to go back for dinner with friends and leave the cameras behind. PHOTOGRAPHY BY KATY STEWART (WILBURN) mark adams Mark Adams is the associate Web editor at Las Vegas Weekly, where he primarily writes about arts and entertainment. For this issue, he interviewed comedian Kathy Griffin for our "Hottest Ticket" section. How was talking to Kathy? It's always fun to hear her Hollywood gossip, and she never disappoints in delivering a laugh. Are you a big comedy fan? Definitely. Movies, stand-up specials, memoirs written by comedians—I like it all. A few of my favorites: Kathy (of course), Chelsea Handler, and Bill Maher. Who have you most enjoyed talking to for Vegas magazine? Carlos Santana. The man is a living legend. His response about playing Woodstock [in 1969] was one of the funniest things I've heard during an interview. What makes Vegas a great comedy town? This city is all about having fun, and laughing is probably the best way to do just that, right? After 12 years in NYC covering entertainment and culture at Elle, Nylon, and Teen Vogue, Danielle Nussbaum moved to LA to become entertainment director of WhoWhatWear.com. She talked to Cat Deeley for our cover story. Do you watch reality TV? It makes me too nervous. I'm afraid that everyone will fall on their faces, and I get embarrassed for them. How did your interview go? Our 30-minute interview turned into a three-hour chatfest. Cat gives great dating advice, and that's all I'll say. (It worked.) So, do you think you can dance? I definitely cannot. But that doesn't stop me from trying! VEGASMAGAZINE.COM 042_V_FOB_Contribs_Sept13.indd 42 8/6/13 10:09 AM
