Denver and Marylee Sullivan attended the visitation and funeral for Frank Tolbert of Hazleton on Thursday and Friday. Margie Wheeler had lots of company last week when more family members came to wish her a happy 88th birthday. Bob Sloan, of Francisco, Bill Sloan, of Elberfield, and Jeff and Susan Sloan, of Jasper. Margie also had another birthday cake, along with presents. Terry Tharp and Marge Tharp and Elizabeth Stephens went out to supper on Friday evening at a local club in Petersburg. Lucy McKannon and Ruth Morrison went to Oakland City on Friday afternoon for dinner at a local restaurant there. Cyi Schmidt and son, Nikoli, and a friend went to Evansville on Friday to visit Mesker Park Zoo. A J and Melissa A lldredge and son, Wyatt, of Hazleton, visited with her father and stepmother, Terry and Debbie Tharp, on Friday afternoon. Esther Pancake, of Otwell, formerly of Petersburg, and a friend went to Owensboro last week for dinner. Maggie Armstrong was a Saturday afternoon visitor in Bruceville with her brother and his family, John and Melissa True, Isaac and Caleb. John and Cyi Schmidt and their son, Nikoli, had their first picnic of the season on Saturday afternoon. Dessi Waple took her son, Tylan, and his cousins, L ogan and Maddi Waple, to the Mesker Park Zoo on Saturday for the day. Card shower Peg Hyneman will turn 92 on April 18. Celebrates birthday Sherri and Lee Lange hosted a surprise birthday dinner for her sister, Theresa Blackburn Loveless, last Saturday at their home in Bicknell. Attending were Chad Blackburn, Gene Deffendoll, Heather and Courtney Deffendoll, of Vincennes; Rosemary Like of Decker and Penny Geneco, of Mt. Carmel, and Greg and Theresa Loveless. A Mexican dinner was served, followed by cake and ice cream. Theresa's birthday was on Monday and she also celebrated by Penny taking her to a local restaurant in Petersburg and her brother bringing her a raspberry cheesecake. Afterwards, Penny and Theresa went driving around. Upcoming events Blue Jean Center Sunday dinner on April 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds to help keep the Center open. Gibson County Bicentennial Gibson County turned 200 on April 1 and the kick off celebration begins on April 26 at the Gibson County Courthouse, with the unveiling of the county's own "Quilt Square" on the northeast quadrant of the courthouse lawn. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. CDT and there will also be refreshments and tours of the newly renovated courthouse. In the event of inclement weather, all of the activities will take place on the main floor of the courthouse. Golf scramble Princeton County Club will sponsor a Four Lady Scramble on April 27-28. Entry fee is $240 per team and cart rental is $80 per team for the two days. Flights will be determined by the number of entries after Saturday's round. All fees must accompany entry form and deadline for entries must be received by April 24. Registration for the outing will begin at 7:45 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CDT. Gibson County Theatre Company The Theatre will be sponsoring open auditions for the 2013 Summer Drama Camp production of 'Cinderella Kids.' Auditions will be at Lowell North auditorium (former Princeton Community High School) for vocal solos and speaking parts. Audition dates are Thursday, April 25, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. until noon CDT. Winzenread Memorial Golf Tournament The annual Trooper Andrew Winzenread Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the North Branch Golf Course, located at 8492 East Base Road, Greensburg, Ind. Tee time is 8 a.m. Registration fee is $200 per team (4 man teams). All proceeds benefit the Trooper Andrew Winzenread Memorial Scholarship Fund. Registration and payment must be received by April 23.
