B-2 Sports Wednesday, Februar y 12, 2020 The Press-Dispatch SPORTS BRIEFS Red Ryder BB Gun Shoot is Saturday The Red Ryder BB Gun Shoot, sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion, will begin at 1 p.m. on Feb. 15 CDT at American Legion Post 256 at 211 E. Washington St. in Oakland City. No pellet or better quality guns allowed. Loaner guns will be provided for use. Admission is free, $2 per round. All ages are wel- come, adults and youth. Little League sign-ups Petersburg Little League sign-ups are now under- way. Sign-up dates are Friday, Feb. 21, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Feb. 28, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday, March 6, at the school carnival. The cost is $45 per player or up to $100 per family. Lady Char- ger freshman Shelby Keek- er improved on her prelim- inary time and placed 15th overall in the breaststroke with a time of 1:27.91. Lady Charger senior Lily Frederick-Rice took 11th in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.98, a 1.10 second im- provement over her prelim- inary finish. Sophomore Madison Riley bettered her preliminary time and placed 13th in 1:13.74 in the 100 -yard backstroke. Last year, Riley clocked 1:16.14 in the preliminary and was 15th overall as a freshman. Frederick-Rice placed 11th in the 500 freestyle, with a 6:37.32 clocking, cutting more than 12 seconds off her preliminary time of 6:42.98, which put her at 13th in the prelims. Freshman Jillian Bai- ley placed 14th in the B fi- nal of the 50 free, clocking 28.09. Dudenhoeffer fin- ished 15th in the B final of the 200 -yard freestyle race with a time of 2:24.54 and sophomore teammate Mad- ison Riley was 16th in the B finals, clocking 2:30.59. Emma McKinney placed fourth overall at the Jasper sectional 100 yard breast stroke event clocking 1:19.20. Shelby Keeker earned 15th place points in the breast stroke at the Jasper sectional this past Saturday. Sean Hanselman led the Chargers on the night with 12 points. "Sean has been playing better and tonight he stepped up well, leading us with 12," said Elliott. Hanselman had three three-pointers and three field goals for his scoring. Colin Craig added nine points for the Chargers. North Posey continued the onslaught in the second quar- ter as they put up another 18 points, including four threes to lead 39 -14 at half-time. "We don't have the fire power to come back if we get down too much," said Elliott. He said North Posey is a better team than their 10 -8 record indicates. "They had Heritage Hills all but beat before they lost in overtime. The night before they played us, they lost to North on a buzzer beater," said Elliott. A fter a tough first half, the Chargers came out in the third quarter and played better. In third quarter, they tied North Posey 13-13. Hanselman had five, Colin Craig four, with Ethan Gor- by and Ethan Scott two each in the quarter. After winning the first round of a three-round match on Satur- day in Terre Haute, he lost the last two rounds to Brian Caprice, from the Sweat Box Boxing Club. Fiscus' trainer Scott Arnold said, "Bro- dy did a good job last night, for his first time to get out there and fight the way he did was ex- actly what an up-and-coming boxer does. He is ready to do it again."
