Paradise for Paws opens Julene Searls blow-dries an Alaskan mix dog last week prior to grooming him. Searls recently opened Paradise for Paws, a dog grooming and bathing service. She said she has always loved animals and knew she wanted to do something with them. She visited with and shadowed a dog groomer to learn about it and see if it was something she want- ed to do. After studying about grooming and shadowing a groomer, she decided to open Paradise for Paws. She charges $35 for small dogs and $45 for large dogs. She is joining Drs. Marcus Kurucz and Donald Vennekotter at Jasper Sur- gical Associates, located in the Medical Arts Building at 721 W. 13th Street, Suite 220, in Jasper. Dr. Stevenson received her medical degree from University of Cincinnati Col- lege of Medicine in Ohio and completed a residency in general surgery at the Uni- versity of Cincinnati Medi- cal Center. She also completed a fel- lowship in complex gener- al surgical oncology and received a master of public health degree at University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Stevenson is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Shake joins Memorial Hospital medical staff Alisha Shake, M.D. was recently appointed to the active medical staff at Me- morial Hospital and Health Care Center. She will work in the Emer- gency Department. Dr. Shake received her medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in Terre Haute, Indiana and complet- ed a residency in emergen- cy medicine at Spectrum Health/Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is a member of the American College of Emer- gency Physicians and the Emergency Medicine Resi- dents' Association. Dr. Megan Stevenson
