The Blue Jeans Community Cen- ter in Monroe City received $10,000 towards the restoration and improve- ment of the outdoor basketball court at the center. It also presented the Pike County EMS with $4,300 to upgrade emer- gency radio coverage in the county. In southern Indiana, they gave out more than $ 34,000 to communi- ty oriented organizations. The Operation Round Up program allows WIN Energy REMC members to reach out to worthy causes in their communities and work together to help others. They appreciate those members who round up their elec- tric bills to the next highest dollar each month. Since the inception of the program in May 2013, 135 grants have been awarded to local organi- zations totaling over $432,000. Small change is really making a big differ- ence for organizations in our com- munity. Grants are awarded quarterly, with the next round of grants being awarded in December. Applications are due by Novem- ber 1 to be considered for the De- cember disbursement. Any charita- ble organization within the WIN En- ergy REMC service territory is eligi- ble to apply. The organization does not have to be a member of WIN Energy REMC. Applications can be picked up at any of the three WIN Energy REMC offices or download- ed at www.winenergyremc.com. Be sure to download the most recent ap- plication online as periodic updates are made.
