C-2 Church Wednesday, May 15, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued from page 1 CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY They say that dogs leave paw prints on your heart, but a Border Collie digs a trench in your heart, puts their favorite toy ball in it and covers it back up. Then they trot off happily look- ing for something more to do. No person forgets a Border Collie, and a Bor- der Collie makes sure of it. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a lively young gal named Emma, who is an entertaining canine that's mischievous, fun-loving, loves human companion- ship, is a quick learner, and has soft, short, black and white fur with some speck- les on her paws. She is ap- proximately two years old and can be adopted by call- ing 812-354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the EMMA Baptist Continued on page 3 Catholic of the Spirit." Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Sup- per at 10 :30 a.m. I am at that age where everyone I know is get- ting married. The people I grew up with in Atlanta, the friends I met in college, ev- eryone is getting married, starting jobs and having children. It seems my fian- cé and I then are always at weddings, and I am not too upset about that. Weddings are beautiful and joyful oc- casions (at least they should be). When you go to a wed- ding, you leave knowing and feeling in your heart some- thing has changed, a couple has committed their lives now to one another, and from this point on they are living a life as one flesh. This is what I love about the body of Christ. Church is the place where through the sacrifice of Jesus, we are becoming one with God. Through Jesus heav- en and earth are entering a marriage once more, the way God intended with this creation from the beginning. And when we enter church, we don't do so to fulfill our religious duties, we do so to enter into the wedding with God, and leave as one. And VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. Missions Some quotes, "You will never win the world to Christ with your spare cash." "At every breath we draw, four souls perish, never hav- ing heard of Christ." Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field" (Matthew 9:37-38). Because He lives. John Manges, Minister we leave as Paul calls us am- bassadors, representing the kingdom of the most high to a world broken and desper- ate for renewal. "So we are Christ's am- bassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, 'come back to God'" (II Corinthians 5:20). Everyone welcome. As we all know life is full of ups and downs, cra- zy and chaotic, and even fun or infuriating times. As Christians we can rest in the fact that God is there for us at all times he is there to shelter us from the storms of life, he can give us strength when we think that we can go no more, and help us even when we thing all hope is lost. Our heavenly father loves us and watches over us at all times. Does this mean that as Christians we should never have to face any hardship or trouble? No. God, as the best par- ent, knows what we must face to make us stronger but like this verse says, he is always present and if we need strength he will give it to us or rescued he will be there in a blink of an eye to help us. Never forget, that no matter the hard- ship, trouble or situation God still loves you, always. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all services. Come and wor- ship Jesus with us. One day, he went to visit an old caretak- er at Freilburg, where there was a very wonderful or- gan, one which he had of- ten heard played. He asked permission to play the or- gan, but the caretaker stout- ly refused. "Never should a stranger be allowed to touch it," he declared. But Men- delssohn pleaded so ear- nestly and spoke so lovingly of the organ that at last the old caretaker granted his re- quest. And as the strains of music filled the cathedral, he was driven to tears. A fter in- quiring as to who this was, shame and remorse filled the old man's heart. "To think," he exclaimed, "that I should have refused to al- low the great Mendelssohn to touch this organ." Jesus is like the great or- ganist. If he can but gain con- trol of our lives, out of them will flow a melody that will bring great happiness to oth- ers. But we must give our full permission and consent.
