A-4 Local Wednesday, May 15, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Sponsored by the Little Company of Mary Sisters - USA Years of Service Years of Service Alpha Delta Chapter met May 7 The Alpha Delta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon State, Del- ta Kappa Gamma Society International met for their spring meeting on May 7 at the Otwell Methodist Church. Hostesses were Linda Hayes, Ruthanne Bur- khart and the N.E. Dubois teachers and retirees. The tables were decorated with beautiful cut flowers. Each place setting had a coast- er made by Audrey Case's class. Their school has a la- ser engraver and router. The program was present- ed by Pat Douglas. She had the honor of going to Japan with a group of students in a program sponsored by Toy- ota. They toured Tokyo first and then went on to Tahara City, where they spent time in the schools. Pat taught an art class while she was there. She said the students there were very friendly and respectful. They do not have janitors in the school. The students do the cleaning, and they cook their lunch in the classroom. While in Japan, they stayed with host families. Co-President Jayna Wild presided at the business meeting. Elizabeth Schaffer, chairperson of the Scholar- ship Committee, announced the winner of DKG $500 scholarship to be awarded to a student planning to enter the field of education. The name of the recipient will be released at her school's awards program. Ruthanne Burkhart pre- sented the Founders' Day program. The original mem- bers of Alpha Delta Chapter were the center of attention. Ruth Jackman spoke about many of the charter mem- bers she knew, and other members joined in remem- bering those they had been acquainted with or had as teachers. Members were given a word search with charter members' names and the door prize was giv- en to Rhonda York for find- ing the most. The next meeting will be Oct. 1 at Harpers' Party Barn in Washington. 2 col. x 3" (actual size) Way to go, (grad's name)!
