The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, April 10, 2019 C- 3 service at 6 p.m. When Jesus died on the cross, He was not only 100 percent God, but also 100 per- cent man. He felt the grief and weight of the sins of the entire world during these moments. While he was on the cross, he was fully human as He cried RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Continued on page 4 Lutheran LAST SUPPER Petersburg First UMC presents The Living Holy Thursday, April 18 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Petersburg First United Methodist Church 801 E. This is a strong verse, tell- ing us as Christians how we should behave towards oth- ers and how we should com- pose ourselves afterwards. We all would do well to re- member that helping oth- ers, in their time of need, should not be done so that we can boast or praise our- selves to others. Instead, it should be done in compas- sion and in praise to God. This is a very hard line to walk. Remember for what you do in private, God will reward you openly. But as the verse says, you should never do this for your own gain or pleasure but for the pleasure and glory of God. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all services. The daily sacrifices of morning and evening lambs in Exodus 29:39 and Num- bers 28:3 - 4 are no longer re- quired because of Jesus' sac- rifice of Himself. We should however want to sacrifice our time to praise and worship in com- munication with God as Da- vid asks of God in Psalm 141:2: "Let my prayers be counted as incense before You; The lifting of my hands as the evening offering." Are we making time for daily communication with God? Are we asking for His blessing on every meal and every work of our hands? Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Kimberly Flynn, Reporter LIVING FAITH CHURCH INTERNATIONAL 718 E. Main Street, Petersburg Phone: 812-809-4544 Sunday services at 10 a.m.; youth service from 6 - 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday service from 6 -7:30 p.m. What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn't work. So I quit being a "law man" so that I could be God's man. Christ's life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself complete- ly with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opin- ion, and I am no longer driv- en to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not go- ing to go back on that. Is it not clear to you that to go back to that old rule-keep- ing, peer-pleasing religion would be an abandonment of everything personal and free in my relationship with God? I refuse to do that, to repudiate God's grace. If a living relationship with God could come by rule-keep- ing, then Christ died unnec- essarily—Galatians 2:19 -21 MSG. • Prophetic worship and teaching, this Wednesday from 6 -7:30 p.m. • Personal evangelism class on Friday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. • Symbols of Passover on Thursday, April 18 at 6 p.m. • Kingsmen men's group on Thursday, April 25 at 6 OTWELL CONTENDERS OF FAITH Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; worship 10 :30 a.m.; evening worship 6:30 p.m.; Wednes- day prayer and Bible study meeting 6:30 p.m. William Breidenbaugh, Pastor THE CHURCH ALIVE WORSHIP CENTER 506 N. 9th St. Petersburg Pastor 812-354-6897 Service times: Sunday morning praise and wor- ship 10 a.m.; children's Sun- day school 11 a.m.; Wednes- day night praise and worship and Bible study 7 p.m. I hope God will see you at church somewhere. Sermon Series: "He Chose the Nails." Scripture Reading: Colos- sians 2:15. Sermon Title: "I Won the Victory." Theme Statement: The movement of God's love through Christ has never been stronger: more than one billion Catholics and nearly as many Protestants profess faith in Christ. Paul writes of the spoiling of prin- cipalities and powers as a result of Christ's victory over death. The central er- ror of false teaching is the lack of the sufficiency of Christ to meet the needs of Believers. There are three things we have power over through Christ. 1. Sin. 2. Satan. 3. Death. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? Larry Stoops, Pastor faith and to help one anoth- er in this life. I sure hope and pray that we all live up to God's will. I pray for our nation to let God inspire our lead- ers and pray they do as He demands, not what seems good for a few. Our nation was founded on many free- doms but lately some of our freedoms are stepping on God's will. Once again I ask them to put God first and man maybe second. Let's line up with God, not expect Him to line up with us. Okay that's enough preaching for now and it's time to go out and show His love in our lives. Sunday school 10 a.m.; Bi- ble study, Thursday at 1 p.m. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Je- sus, his Son, purifies us from all [a] sin" (I John 1:7, NIV ). Through Christ we can live each day in freedom and hope. Jesus' blood washes away sin's stains.
