Bring them up, you have a strong respon- sibility to set a sound foun- dation for your children. If you know more about your hobbies, sports statistics, etc. than your own children, something is out of order. Let God shape you into a great man, a great father, a great disciple. Presbyterian MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg 812-354-6844 Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m.; Youth group Monday evening at 6 p.m. Come vis- it us. Our doors are always open to you. Saturday of Holy Week is a strange day for the church. It's sandwiched between Good Friday, when Jesus died on the cross, and East- er, when he rose. Certainly, we know the truth and triumph of the resurrection, but until Je- sus comes again, we're liv- ing Saturday. The Lamb of God has been sacrificed, and the curtain of sin that separated us from God has been torn down. Yet we're still looking forward to - as Jesus said - the renewal of all things. Although we may be bat- tered and bruised, stum- bling, limping or crawling, we shouldn't wallow in de- feat. Instead, we can be confident in the victory Je- sus won for us. We can shout with Paul, "Thanks be to God, who gives us the vic- tory through our Lord Je- sus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57, NRSV ). While you look back to Friday and forward to Sun- day, live victoriously in Sat- urday. Jesus has won and has run the victory lap...and he's coming around again. He de- cided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young wom- an opened the door. In- stead of a meal, he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. "How much do I owe you? " "You don't owe me anything," she re- plied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness." He said... "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stron- ger physically, but his faith in God and man was stron- ger also. He had been ready to give up and quit. Many years later, that same young woman became critically ill. They called in specialists Dr. Howard Kel- ly to study her rare dis- ease. When he heard the name of the town she came from, tears filled his eyes. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approv- al. He wrote something on the edge of the bill and it was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. She looked, and on the bill was written—"Paid in full with one glass of milk"—Signed Dr. Howard Kelly. "Good friends are like angels...You don't have to see them to know they are there." We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter and may the harvest come in. In God's Service.
