Not pic- tured: Landon Hart Students Feed the Homeless Students from Pike Cen- tral High School and En- glish teacher Mrs. Beth Bohnert took time out of their school day on March 20 to feed homeless citizens at a homeless shelter locat- ed in Evansville. The stu- dents, Alexa Powers, Chel- sie Lester, Hadley Hold- er, Emma Russell, Alexis Englert, Madison Warner, Morgan Houchins, Jayd- lyn Goeppner and Daisy Iv- ers were part of a group of students participating in a homeless unit sponsored by the IP&L Educator's Grant. These 10 volunteers worked part of the day organizing a food storage unit and then helped feed guests in the af- ternoon. The homeless unit is designed to make the stu- dents and community more aware of how homelessness affects us all. These nine students volunteered be- cause they wanted to make a difference in the world by helping others. It was a won- derful experience, and we hope to return sometime to assist again. Petersburg Elementary CALENDER April 8 -12 – Kindness Week April 10 – Fourth grade Science Fair. The gym will be open for PES stu- dents to visit. There will be an awards program in the gym at 1:45 p.m. Parents and students are welcome. April 12 – Pre-school screening. Any child that will be 4 on or before – Au- gust 1, 2019 is eligible to be tested for pre-school. Please call the office to make an appointment. Testing is not a guarantee of acceptance.
