Zachary Redman, an attorney in the Las Vegas office of Snell & Wilmer, was appointed to the executive committee of the Business Law Section of the Nevada State Bar. It aims to enhance the role and skills of business law attorneys. Justin Cochran, an attorney in the Las Vegas office of Snell & Wilmer, was accepted into the Federal Defense Mentor Program chaired by U.S. Magistrate Judge Peggy Leen. Adam Greenbaum has joined the Las Vegas Conventions and Visitors Authority as a digital marketing analyst. He is responsible for digital data analysis for the lasvegas.com family of websites. He previously was the social media and digital data specialist at MassMedia Corporate Communications in Henderson. Gary Ackerman and Tony Bonnici have joined the board of directors at Nevada Children's Medical Center Foundation. Ackerman owns Gaudin Motor Company, and Bonnici ackerman is vice president and general manager of Lotus Broadcasting. Jason Shkorupa has been named president and Kelley Jones chairman of the board for the Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas. McGhie Andrea Lautner was named director of membership services for the Las Vegas chapter of the Associated General Contractors and the Nevada Contractors Association. Aynalem Workneh received an ATHENA lautner Award for "Young Professional Leadership" from the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada. Workneh is president of Angels of Las Vegas, a nonprofit organization that helps children and adults battling cancer. The nation's second-largest real estate broker, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., has formed a joint venture with Prudential Real Estate's parent company, Brookfield Asset Management, to create Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. The new franchise joins the existing brands and affiliate networks of Prudential Real Estate and Real Living Real Estate. Dr. Souzan El-Eid, a surgeon with the Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada and breast center director at Summerlin Hospital, received a 2012 Patients' Choice Award. In 2012, only 5 percent of the country's 830,000 doctors received the honor. Recognition is based on monthly feedback from more than 200,000 patients nationwide. Patti Hart, CEO of International Game Technology, will serve as chairwoman of the American Heart Association's 2013 Go Red for Women initiative and luncheon. Hart has volunteered for the cause since it began in 2004. Go Red for Women aims to raise awareness about heart disease and educate people about risk factors. Laura Ellen Browning, an attorney in the Las Vegas office of Snell & Wilmer, was appointed to the State Bar of Nevada Fee Dispute Panel. Members of the panel mediate disagreements between clients and attorneys about costs paid. Deborah L. Danielson, of Danielson Financial Group, recently attended the seventh annual Barron's Top Women Advisors Summit, which promotes best industry practices. Danielson was named one of the Top 100 Women Financial Advisors in the United States in the June 4 issue of Barron's. The list is composed of advisors from major security firms and independent operations. Amelia Gulling, the Desert Research Institute's GreenPower program administrator, was recognized by the Nevada Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council for her dedication to promoting sustainability in Nevada. Gulling won a "2012 Amazing Individual" award for her work encouraging teachers to educate their students about how to be environmentally conscience. John Lynch has joined Sunbelt Controls, a building automation controls contractor. Lynch has more than 16 years of HVAC project management, engineering and sales experience. Steven Eklund and Bill Marcus have joined the board of directors at Respect Your Universe Inc. Ekland retired as the chief financial officer for RYU and joined the board immediately. Marcus is senior managing director at Hedgeharber and president of Evolution Trading Partners. He has 28 years of experience building and managing institutional trading firms in financial derivative markets. Aaron Loreth will succeed Eklund as vice president of finance. In addition, Director Emmanuel "Kofi" Brown will leave the board to pursue his job as chief marketing officer, and Kristian Andresen will retire from the board. Keith Kudrewicz and Valery Jeffries have joined Rampart Casino as casino hosts. Chef Angelo Sosa opened his first Las Vegas restaurant, Poppy Den, inside Tivoli Village. It is a 5,400-square-foot Asian gastropub. Balloons With A Twist, owned by Michele Rothstein, was named a Las Vegas party and event planning "Best of 2012" winner on Kudzu, on online guide to service providers. More than 5 million businesses competed in 30 categories. Winners were chosen by online vote. Dr. Rebecca Edgeworth has been appointed medical director of the Paradise clinic for Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada. VMSN, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization, provides health care services to uninsured people in Southern Nevada. Edgeworth previously served as a volunteer physician, then staff physician for VMSN. Bombard Renewable Energy, of Las Vegas, was named one of the "2012 Top 100 Solar Contractors" by Solar Power World magazine. Bombard was No. 13 on the list. Alligator Soup at Village Square was named the "2012 Best Wedding Invitations" company by Las Vegas Bride Magazine. The store recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Two businesses, Glamorous Doodads and Laid Back Lux, opened on Main Street downtown, just north of West Charleston Boulevard. Glamorous Doodads specializes in wine carriers, accessories and hand-crafted jewelry. Laid Back Lux is an interior design firm founded on the premise that everyone, regardless of budget, can have a home worthy of showing off. KLAS-TV was awarded a 2013 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award for its in-depth news series "Desert Underwater." The investigative series examined Nevada's housing and foreclosure crisis. The duPont-Columbia award is regarded as one of the most prestigious in broadcast and digital journalism. NEWave, a gaming industry software supplier, deployed three programs for Aliante Gaming LLC at the Aliante Casino and Hotel in North Las Vegas: Title 31 Manager, Records Manager and Check Prove software. NEWave now serves 89 Nevada casinos. Luxury Optical Holdings opened its 15th boutique in the Las Vegas Valley. The store is at the Appian Way Shops at Caesars Palace.
