This Saturday afternoon at noon, we will be having an ice cream social open to the community. Everyone is welcome. Love is an easy word to throw around, and we cer- tainly do that in our soci- ety. Therefore, we want to be sure that when people say they love us, they are sincere. You sincerely love your friends and (probably) your family, but what about your enemies? With the help of the Holy Spirit, it is pos- sible to sincerely love those whom God loves and that in- cludes everyone. "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brother- ly love. Honor one anoth- er above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serv- ing the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer" (Romans 12:9 -12). "The Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can- not be uttered" (Romans 8:26). Have you ever faced a situation that was so over- whelming or so confus- ing you didn't even know how to pray about it? Have you ever been so overcome with grief or burdened by heartache you couldn't put your emotions into words, much less pray about them? What a comfort these words should be: "The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us in accor- dance with God's will" (Ro- mans 8:26 -27). Think of it—Even when we don't know how to pray, the Spirit knows our needs, and He brings the deepest cries of our hearts before the throne of God. In ways, we will never understand this side of eternity, God the Holy Spirit pleads for us be- fore God the Father. Turn to God in every situation even when you don't feel like it. The Spirit is interceding for you, in accordance with God's will. Revival, October 14-16 with Matt Hoffman. Every- one is welcome. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your presence will be greatly ap- preciated and I am sure you will receive God blessings. May God walk you through this world in the palm of His hand. Command of Love "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." ( John 15:12, NLT). What a powerful and meaningful command this is, not to mention hard to keep in a lot of instances today. The command in this case is not just love, but showing com- passion, care, understand- ing, kindness and the will- ingness to sacrifice your wants, needs or worth for others. In following this one command, we can show others the way to Jesus through our example of love. Love is one of the most powerful weapons we can use against the dev- il besides the word of God. By showing love instead of fear or anger when sit- uations arise, we render the devil powerless. This does not mean that love is always nice though, be- cause in some cases, love is hard, but in a good way. Just remember that show- ing love instead of anger can lead even the most lost and astray to God. God bless you and keep you. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center.
