The trials and circum- stances that we meet daily can cause us to be anxious – but take to heart this mes- sage from God's word found in Philippians 4: 6 -7. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks- giving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all under- standing, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. We must remember the love of God – Wisdom of God, Power of God and to always be thankful for the promise of His peace which surpasses all understanding. Our Mission Statement: To Know Christ; To Share Christ and To Live Christ. "Sing praise to the Lord, You saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weep- ing may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morn- ing. Hear, O Lord and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper. You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be si- lent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever" (Psalm 30 :4,5,10 -12). We look forward to see- ing you at all of our servic- es. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us as we gather for praise and wor- ship, celebration and study. Fred J. Grenier, Pastor Corinna Williams, Report- er HOUSE OF MERCY CHURCH Corner of East and Porter Winslow Pastor 812-789-5229 A Church with a family atmosphere and God's love. Sunday morning worship service at 10 a.m. with Sun- day school classes at 10 :45 a.m.; Every other Tuesday night, prayer at 7 p.m. Are you serving Jesus to your fullest ability or are you having one foot in the world and one foot in your rela- tionship with the Lord? You cannot do both and be a true child of God. In Revelations 3:15 -16, the Lord stated that He would rather we be hot or cold but because we were lukewarm, He would spew us out of His mouth. This means you have to be total- ly giving of yourself to Him. Where do you stand today?. When in Winslow, drive by and see what God is do- ing. Pray for your country, our president and government, your local government, our soldiers and all pastors. Re- member to pray for the sick and afflicted, and those in the nursing homes and hos- pitals. Be a friend to your neigh- bors, co-workers, and any with whom you come into contact. To have a friend, you need to be a friend. Je- sus said what you give out is what you will receive back. May you find peace and joy in your life this week. God's Servant and friend to Humanity, George Bruce, Pastor MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg 812-354-6844 Sunday school 9:15 a.m.; Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m. We have a nursery for chil- dren up to the age of seven and we also have a van route in Petersburg to pick anyone up. Come visit us, our doors are always open to you. God and your money What money? That's a good question. The sad reality is that many American families spend more money than they make. That should be a shock- ing fact for Christians. Why? Because Christians are sup- posed to be good stewards of all that we have: our time, tal- ent, intelligence, energy and possessions, including mon- ey. Let's consider money from the Christian standpoint: 1. It is not sinful to earn all the legitimate money one can garner. In itself, money is not evil. It is the love of money we must resist. 2. It is important to save as much as one can - at least 10 percent. 3. It is vital to make a bud- get and stick to it. 4. God owns the world and gives us the responsibility to take care of it. It takes money to care for home and property. 5. We should strive to give at least 10 percent to God's work, which includes the church. 6. One reliable fact about stewardship: There is no way we can out-give our loving God. Ever! Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday.
