C-2 Church Wednesday, July 5, 2017 The Press-Dispatch Baptist CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY Continued in next column Real dogs don't ride in purses. This week PAWS is fea- turing an all American dog named Winston, who is a gentle giant and likely has some Great Dane heritage. He is very agile, energetic, needs room to run and play and is very people oriented and wants to please. Winston gets along well with other dogs, is noble and affectionate and he would benefit from some- one who has time to work with him and channel his undying energy. He has soft , short fur, is white with black spots, neutered, has all his shots and wait- ing for that special family to call his own. To inquire about Win- ston, call 812-354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the WINSTON Church of Christ Independent Independent Catholic Christian us. We will hold our closing celebration for parents to at- tend on Friday, July 28 at 6 p.m. Every Wednesday night, there is an opportunity for community youth to meet at the church. The God Squad (grades 6 -12) and God's Lit- tle People (Pre-K-5th grade) meet at the church from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Meals and/or snacks are provided and we have a great time in fellow- ship as we dig into the Word. The youth offers many op- portunities for travel and lo- cal missions. We will begin a Commu- nity Outreach ministry this Sunday as well. Look for Mt. Olive in the local communi- ties and contact us if you see a need that needs to be met here in Pike County. This is a new and growing ministry, and we are excited to spread the love of Jesus and serve the Otwell and neighboring communities. Contact the church at 812- 354-5777 or alexbenefiel@ gmail.com with questions or needs. Mt. Olive Gener- al Baptist is located at 6187 E. State Rd. 56, Winslow, IN 47598. We would love to see you this week at Mt. Olive. Alex Benefiel, Pastor Crystal Benefiel, Reporter. MT. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH (Augusta) Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m., children's church during morning ser- vice; Celebrate Recovery from 5 -7 p.m. at the Gather- ing Place in Winslow. July 9 is family and friend day. Invite all your family and friends. Camp Out VBS will be Ju- ly 12-14 from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. All children are invited. "The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God" (I Corinthians 3:19). Some may contend that the way for the Church to make a better place is to be- come like it. But whenever the church does this, it ends up compromising its spiritu- al authority and losing its in- fluence. Instead of changing the world, the world changes it. God doesn't want us to iso- late ourselves. In praying for His disciples Jesus said, "As you sent Me into the world, I have also them into the world" ( John 17:18). If we isolate ourselves from oth- ers, we have no impact and demonstrate a lack of love. But neither does God want us to become like the unbe- lieving world. We are to be separate, refusing to adopt its motives and patterns of behavior. The Bible warns, "All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but it is of the world" (I John 2:16). Let Christ fill your life, and there won't be room for the world. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I'm sure you will leave feeling blessed. "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the hea- then do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, be- fore ye ask him" (Matthew 6:7-8, K JV ). Lord's Prayer "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And for- give us our debts, as we for- give our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but de- liver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the pow- er, and the glory, for ever"— Amen (Matthew 6:9 -13). When I go away from home I bid my wife and children goodbye; I bid my friends and acquain- tances goodbye, but I nev- er heard of a poor backslid- er going down on his knees and saying, 'I have been near you for ten years; your ser- vice has become tedious and monotonous; I have come to bid you farewell.
