God with their hands in the air, singing as loud as their lungs would allow. One of the teenage girls who refused to go to church last sum- mer even led worship. Our hearts were full. My favorite experience this sum- mer was while delivering rice and beans. I came across a small house that housed an elderly woman. I asked in Spanish if I could come in, and she graciously welcomed me. At that second, it hit me that I had given food to the same woman last summer. I had two pairs of shoes in my hand from home, I no longer wore, and she grabbed a pair of san- dals. They were a bit too small for her, but she told me she had none and asked if she could have them. She hugged me, kissed my shoul- der, and thanked God for me. I will never forget that experience or that woman. Our last full day in Honduras was a free day. We purchased souvenirs and spent the day like tourists. We took a boat ride on a gorgeous lake with mountains surrounding every side. We were in awe of God's cre- ation. When I see open water and mountains, I see God's beauty. Here in America, I put a lot of my trust in myself. I trust myself to make sure I am fed, I trust myself to make sure I am working, I trust myself to make good grades, and I trust myself to be a good person and friend to everyone I come in- to contact with. The Honduran peo- ple put their trust in God. Seeing their faith made me realize that I am very small in this world, but with my God, I am powerful, cherished, and unforgettable.
