Thursday, September 20-September 26, 2012 www.rutherfordweekly.com 828-248-1408 Rutherford Weekly - Page 29 GERALD WILLIAM JACKSON Gerald William Jackson age 73, of Edneyville, NC passed away on September 13th 2012. served in the National Guard, worked for Young Blood Truck Line, Sears and Robuck, the apple orchards, and owned Jackson Satellite and TV. He was the son of the late Glenn and Louise Merrill Jackson. Gerald September 13, 2012. Frank was born September 24, 1918 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Jacob Astor Lee and Sallie Philbeck Lee. He was a graduate of Piedmont High School, class of 1936 and Lee's- McRae College. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years Deitra Jackson; Daughter Sandra Fisher (Tommy Davis) of Asheville, NC; Daughter Tina Rhodes (Scott) of Hendersonville, NC; Daughter Anita Burnette (Kevin) of Weaverville, NC; Daughter Rhonda Morrison (Michael) of Rutherfordton; Sister Mildred Reed of Edneyville; Brother Lawrance Jackson of Edneyville; Grandchildren Jeremy Fisher, Makayla Martin, Chance Burnette, Dylan Martin, Mollie Martin, John Morrison. A number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his Brother Howard Jackson, Sister Margie Hill, and Grandson Thomas Martin Jr. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Crowe's Mortuary is serving the family. George "Frank" Lee, age 93, of GEORGE "FRANK" LEE Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Thursday, served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II, having served for two tours of duty. He was a carpenter most of his life and also worked as a jailer for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Greene Lee; one son, Larry Lee; five brothers, Shannon, Lowell, Harold, Marvin and Boyd Lee. Left to cherish his memory are his six children, Patricia Weaver of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Judy Robbins and husband, Clyde of Gaffney, Robert Lee of Mooresboro, Donald Lee and wife, Kim, Suzie Lee Brackett, Jeff Lee and wife, Cheryl all of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Nadine Johnson of Shelby and Melba Callahan of Columbia, SC; four sisters in-law, Betty Lee of Newton, NC, Dot Lee of Shelby, Sybil Lee of Richmond, VA and Virginia Reid of Cliffside. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty- one great grandchildren and four great great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Brent Frady and Reverend Tom Frady officiating. Interment followed in Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. s e r He The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Rutherford County for their compassionate care and to Frank's beloved daughter in-law, Kim, for her wonderful love and care during the last ten years. Harrelson EVELYN MCKINNEY Alda Evelyn McKinney, age 93, of Forest ALDA City, NC, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Alda was born May 17, 1919 in Rutherford County, NC to the late James Franklin Amos and Cornelia Coffey Amos. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, quilting, and crocheting. She was a lifetime member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. Alda was known for her famous biscuits and her love for God's Word. She especially loved taking care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl H. McKinney; three brothers, Robert Amos, Paul Amos and Willie Amos; two daughters, Phyllis McKinney and Margaret Jones and one grandson, Toney Funeral Home is caring for Mr. Lee's Family. McKinney. Left to cherish her memory are five sons, Harold McKinney and wife, Joann, Floyd McKinney and wife, Betty all of Morristown, TN; Paul McKinney and wife, Maxine, Wayne McKinney, Donald McKinney and wife, Vickie all of Forest City; one daughter, Jean Mathis, and husband, Paul of Rutherfordton. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Harris and Reverend Ted Blankenship officiating. TOLLEY LOGAN MOCK Mrs. Tolley Logan Mock age 80 of Coopers Gap Road went home to be with the Lord on Saturday September 15, 2012. Born in Henderson County NC on May 17, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Jane Whiteside Logan, member of St. Gabriel Episcopal Church and former employee of Broyhill Furniture Company. Left to cherish HENRY NATHAN HOYLE JR. Henry Nathan Hoyle Jr. age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away on September 10th 2012. Henry was a Korean war navy veteran and the son of the late Henry Nathan and Hester Sigmon Hoyle. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Madge Melton, Mavin Swofford, Inez Newton, and Ruth Brown; In addition to his sisters he is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. her memory are her daughters – Debra Miller (Albert), Annie Demps (Darryl), Mary Mock Higgins (Charles); Vanessa Logan, Teresa Waiters, Phyllis Mock and Celette Mock. Also surviving are the children of her heart Chance Mock, Phillip Mock and Janice Logan. Mrs. Mock also leaves a number of friends and other relatives to mourn her passing along with twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rev. Phillip H. Mock, III; two sisters Evie Freeman and Irene Coleman; five brothers – Leonard , Ben, J.T., A.C. and Grady Logan. A celebration of her life was held at Father's Vineyard in Spindale, NC with concluding services held at St. Gabriel Episcopal Church Cemetery in Rutherfordton, NC. MAVIS LOUISE CANNON JONES Mavis Louise Cannon Jones, 82, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. A native of Rutherford County, she was born May 23, 1930, a daughter of the late Russell C. and Essie Burgess Cannon. Mavis was a homemaker and a member of Caroleen Missionary Methodist Church. She loved to quilting sewing, cooking and talking on the telephone. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Joseph Lawson Jones. She is survived by one sister Nadine Scruggs and husband George of Forest City; two brothers, Grady Cannon and wife Bonnie of Forest City and Donald Cannon and wife Betty of Shelby; a host of Nieces nephews and special friends. Funeral services were held at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Rickey Poteat and Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. Burial followed at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
