WANDA ROWLAND'S NEWS Wayne and I have been kept busy going to basket- ball games, now that the basketball season has be- gun. Between going to Ju- nior Varsity, Varsity, Wood Memorial girls' games, and Oakland City University women and men's games, we went to seven games from Thursday through Saturday last week. This week is just as busy. We love the sport, but we also go to support Hannah with cheer and the 3-Point Sponsors at Oakland City University. In between those games, we watch IU play on T V. We sure keep busy! On Dec. 14, Hunter Row- land will be 20 years old! We will try to make a time to cel- ebrate his birthday, but it is hard with his schedule. We are so blessed to have such great-grandkids and great- grandkids! God has blessed us so much. Our prayer is that we can help others re- ceive a blessing, too. One of our church mem- bers sent me a text about a family she wants to help. A mother is struggling to make a life with her two-year-old and is having a hard time. She asked if we thought the church could help. Of course, Pastor Wayne and I both said, "Yes! " God gives us all so much, it is our du- ty and pleasure to help oth- ers that do not have as much. It's is a joy to find people that want to help others. We think of our own wants too much, it is time we set about the task that God has for us. Jesus said the well do not need a doctor, it is those that are sin sick, and in need that need Him and us. We are the hands of God that can do for others. I pray that we will be that blessing that so ma- ny need at this time of our Lord's birth! Esther Pancake has been sick recently, but is now on the road to recovery. ORANGE JELLY By Monica Sinclair As I promised last week, I am providing you with a recipe for homemade gifts in order to help save money and to give items that have a lot more than monetary value. I actually used this recipe this week and it turned out great. My husband has already finished off one jar and the other ones are being given as gifts. I bought more ingredients this week to make more for my husband. There are only four in- gredients and it only takes about 10 minutes to mix up and pour into the jars. Enjoy! P.S. In parenthesis I have included the ingredients needed to make this recipe without sugar. However, be aware that doing it that way will only give you four jars of jelly instead of six. Source: Tasteof home.com INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED: 2-1/3 cups water 1 can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed 1 package (1-3/4 ounces) powdered fruit pectin (low sugar or no sugar needed pectin) 4-1/2 cups sugar (Splenda) MEALS IN Monica's MINUTES 1. Rinse six 1-cup plastic containers and lids with boil- ing water. Dry thoroughly. In a Dutch oven or large stockpot, combine water, orange juice concentrate and pectin. Cook and stir until mixture comes to a full rolling boil. Add sugar; return to a full rolling boil. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. 2. Remove from heat; skim off foam if necessary. Im- mediately fill all containers to within 1/2 in. of tops. Wipe off top edges of containers; cool to room tem- perature, about 1 hour. Cover and let stand over- night or until set, but no longer than 24 hours. 3. Jelly is now ready to use. Refrigerate up to 3 weeks or freeze up to 1 year. Thaw frozen jelly in refrig- erator before serving. Yield: 6 cups.
