A Memorial Service was held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. A private burial preceded the service. Mr. Patterson served our country in the 1st Marine Division of the US Marines as a corporal. He proudly leaves the legacy of being the most deco- rated Korean War veteran in Cleveland County. His medals include three purple hearts and the bronze star with valor. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Hoyle. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Patterson, of the home; three daughters, Cynda Cooper and husband Don of Lancaster, SC; Ann Hoyle and husband Jerry of Indian Trail, and Tanya Howell and husband Charles of Shelby. 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers-and sisters-in- law including Jim and Lo McMurry, Dale and Mildred McMurry, Carolyn and Art Hamrick, and Diann Langley; numerous other nieces and nephews. Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory is serving the family. Edna Eugenia Pounds Miles, 94 of Shelby, NC went to be with her Lord on March 24, 2012.
