WHAT'S NEW AT CHEFWORKS SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27, 2015 SANTA CRUZ WOMAN 7 T he Chefworks legacy has always provided the best kitchenware products for local home chefs and culinary students alike in the Santa Cruz community, and over the last couple of years the store has introduced some new products and services customers might not know about. Chefworks has been under new ownership since being purchased in 2013 by Charles Nelson, owner of Toque Blanche, in Half Moon Bay. It was named SFGATE's Best Kitchen- ware Store in 2013. While Nelson kept the Chefworks name, the well-known kitchenware store has narrowed its focus to home chefs interested in cooking and entertaining. The store sells gourmet food and drink items and stocks everything from bakeware to grillware, and cutlery to cooks' tools and essen- tials. Nelson says the store features "unique products you can't find, imported from South America and Europe, to local products." One of Nelson's new products he was excited to bring into Chefworks was the Big Green Egg, a ceramic outdoor cooker that has baking, roasting, and smoking capabilities. Chefworks not only provides home chefs with popular quality products, its unique services also help prepare chefs to be successful. Every Sat- urday the store offers free cooking demos open to the public, and on the second Sunday of every month the store allows customers to drop off their knives before 1p.m. and have them professionally sharpened, and returned by 3p.m. the same day. While Nelson is serving up some new products and services, he is still dedicated to meeting his customers' needs. He wants customers to know that, "they can find everything they need in the store, and all products are refundable if they change their mind in 30 days," he explained. Customers can also earn reward points by spend- ing $250 in the store and earning $15 off their next purchase.
