The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, April 17, 2015 20 B/River Valley (top 6 x 2) By Brian Craddock and Elizabeth Mabie TV Media A little addition: If you've been keeping an eye on recent new reality TV shows, you've probably seen or heard of "Little Women: LA" and its East Coast spinoff "Little Women: NY." Now, Lifetime brings fans of the "Little Women" fran- chise a special 10-part mini- series chronicling the preg- nancy of one of the original show's stars and executive producers, "Little Women: LA's" Terra Jolé. Catch a new episode of "Little Women: Terra's Little Family" when it airs Wednesday, April 22, on Lifetime. It was at the start of sea- son 2 that star and execu- tive producer Jolé ("Tales from Beyond," 2004) an- nounced she was pregnant, even though babies weren't really on her brain. After seeing the massive amount of interest in her baby ad- ventures and the outpouring of support she received from the show's viewers, Jolé de- cided to allow the crew to film the expectant mother over the course of her preg- nancy and up to the eventu- al birth. Theirs isn't any ordinary pregnancy, though. Since both Jolé and her boyfriend, actor Joe Gnoffo ("Mirror, Mirror," 2012), have dwarf- ism, there is a higher chance that their baby could suffer from complications during development and also de- velop dwarfism. In an inter- view with "Entertainment Tonight" back in January, Terra spoke about some of the risks of having a baby when one or both of the parents have dwarfism. "While it lives a perfectly normal life in the womb, it's the lungs — they don't de- velop fully — so they would die at birth or within a few hours of birth. To me, that would be like my all-time biggest fear," she said. "It has been suggested maybe there are possibilities for ex- treme health risks with Joe and I, and that's something to think about, but currently, the child is living healthy in the womb. Why think nega- tive when I'm this far along?" As with a lot of docuseries like this, we know the out- come well ahead of the air date. Just over a month ago, on March 16, Jolé and Gnoffo gave birth to a per- fectly healthy daughter named Penelope Charlevoix Gnoffo, who weighed in at six pounds, two ounces. "Joe and I are overjoyed by our new family addition," Jolé told "People" maga- zine, adding that they are "looking forward to our fu- ture together as a happy lit- tle family." Though we may already know the outcome of this new "Little Women" spinoff, there's still plenty we haven't seen. Catch a new episode of "Little Women: Terra's Little Family" when it airs Wednesday, April 22, on Lifetime. Bare it all: What could be more thrilling than leaving all the comforts of civiliza- tion behind and striving to survive in a remote location along with a stranger of the opposite sex? Doing all of that, but naked! "Naked and Afraid" re- turns Sunday, April 19, on Discovery, for its fourth sea- son and will feature new contestants, new locations and plenty of new awkward experiences as a duo battles the elements together in their birthday suits. The premiere episode be- gins deep in the Everglades in Florida. A clip from the episode was released last month and focused on the contestant Amber, who is shown having difficulties with mosquitos. Cameras pan all over her body, revealing swollen bite marks covering her from head-to-toe. To protect her more sensitive bits, Amber put together a makeshift grass skirt and top, but says that no matter what, the mosquitos won't leave her alone. Like past seasons, the rules remain the same: par- ticipants can bring one per- sonal item with them, but that's it. For 21 days they will have to find their own food, water, shelter and, if they so desire, can make their own clothes using whatever materials they can find lying around. What is the prize for making it to the end of the 21 days? Pride and accomplishment. It seems silly at first that peo- ple would actually be will- ing to compete on a show where they do not win a ma- terial prize, but living through 21 days in the wil- derness is more than deserv- ing of bragging rights and even could raise self-es- teem. It's an eye-opening experience as competitors test their survival skills and strengthen their ability to work with others, and they're given the chance to develop skills they might never have thought they possessed. Also featured this season will be the chal- lengers chosen by the fans. Back in the fall, Discovery launched a contest named "#ShowUsWhatYouGot," where hopeful participants sent in videos to network execs explaining why they should be on "Naked and Afraid." Fans got to vote via social media for those they wanted to see participate, and the results will be re- vealed in a special episode later this season. Catch the hair-raising new season of "Naked and Afraid" premiering Sunday, April 19, on Discovery. realtalk Joe Gnoffo and Terra Jolé star in "Little Women: Terra's Little Family" A little addition Lifetime follows 'Little Women: LA' star's high-risk pregnancy $ ! ! # ! # ! !
