3 Arts & Entertainment November 18, 2011 'Modern Warfare 3' entices viewers New modes of game play give viewers a fun way to play the game Eddie Spidle A&E Editor On November 8, 2011 Infin- ity Ward and Sledgehammer studios released the newest in- stallation of the Modern War- fare series, with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 it marked the most anticipated game release of the year. When I first heard about the release of this game, I was ecstatic consid- ering the circumstances that all of the games before had been so well written, and designed. Millions were anticipat- ing the midnight release some people grew too excited. An armed robbery of a truck that was to deliver the game to a store in France marked the loss of over half a million dollars in product revenue. I, myself, was so excited for the release that my friends and I actually chose to bear the cold weather http://media.next-gen.biz One of the missions in the game takes players through submarines as they try to prevent a nuclear attack. and sit outside of Gamestop for six hours. Yes, I know you may think "NERDS" but this game was well worth it. This game is like the many other 'Call of Duty' games that came before it. 'Modern Warfare 3' is a first person shooter with many dif- ferent game play modes that make it a great game. These 'Bomb Patrol Afghanistan' bring viewers into the lives of military men Eddie Spidle A&E Editor In October of 2011 G4 Tele- vision released its newest show a documentary that focuses on the lives of a United States EOD unit based in Afghanistan. This new show called 'Bomb Patrol Afghanistan' has an hour long running time, and it has had a very explosive outlook on the everyday lives of the men on the EOD team. EOD stands for Ex- plosive Ordinance Disposal. If you can't guess the teams job already, they are the men behind removing IED (Im- provised Explosive Devices) planted by the Taliban forces to destroy American military vehicles. The Team consists of their operations leader "Chief", and many more soldiers. The team also includes six robots to help with the detonation of ex- plosive devices. There has been ten episodes thus far and all have been ridic- ulously intense, they have con- tinuously kept me on the edge of my seat and watching closely. In many of the episodes the EOD unit has had close encounters with loosing men in the most re- cent episode many of the vehi- cles traveling in the Army cara- van were destroyed as a result of IED detonations while trying game modes include the Cam- paign which is a follow up of 'Modern Warfare 2' and a new mode that is playable in cooper- ative called "Survival mode". In "Survival Mode" you can play by yourself or with a team of your friends to fight waves of soldiers that are put in combat with you these waves of men include normal soldiers, suicide bombers, and squads of attack dogs. Of course we cannot for- get the 'Multiplayer' battles on- line and off. Although there are many great aspects to this game there are a few bad points to it also. One of them being the fact that if you level up in survival mode you don't level up in online multiplayer. This makes it take longer to do so. Another bad thing about this game is that the weapons take abnormally long to unlock. All in all, it is a great game so I recommend that you should buy it. Are you ready for some multiplayer action? 'Immortals' stuns audiences with great choreographed fight scenes Carson Dunbar Staff Writer The new flick from the The EOD team poses for a photo in front of their armored vehicles http://img.poptower.com to clear a classified highway known as "Route X". Although no one was seriously injured the attacks on their squad had mentally drained the team as a whole. As the season goes on it is destined to get worse for the team in a matter of inner struggles and outer struggles with the Taliban Forces. With the team going through these struggles it shows them that no matter how many IED's the detonate there will always be thousands more. I would recommend this show to anyone and everyone that has an interest with the military. This show has an impact on peoples everyday lives, the men in the series are not acting this is what they do everyday when they are over there. To me it shows that even though the government says they have control over there we do not. All in all, this new television series is explosive in many ways the characters care for one an- other but like any other family they have their differences and will fight about them, another instance where this show is explosive is literally during the scenes where the team finds an underground IED. I give this show a great and recommend it as a must watch. producers of 300 has torn into the box office. This movie boasts stunning graphic effects and jaw dropping battle sequences. "Immortals is truly a beautiful film to take in, but it's best to expect nothing more than beautiful images. "It is much like visiting an art gallery during a Greek mythology themed exhibition," raved Glenn Kay As expected, filmmaker Tarsem Singh plays with his own jaw-dropping vision of Gods and men. While the enormous headgear worn by Tarsem's warriors seem quite impractical, it is awe striking to look at. The color red literally pops, and the grey Titans are frightening creations to view. There are beautiful transitions, and images; most notably, a shot of featuring hundreds of Gods and Titans engaged in a war above the clouds. In general, the battles are also well put together. Numerous fights feature elaborately choreographed sequences captured in a single fluid shot. A word of warning for some viewers, these moments, like the rest of the film, are incredibly violent. (The advertising displays itself as from the producer of 300.) Viewers will not only be treated to exploding heads, but also what appears to be a sledgehammer vasectomy. 'Immortals' brings extravagant violence to the gods. 'Born at Midnight' keeps readers wanting to know more and more Ashlan Brunello Features Editor "Born at Midnight", written by C.C. Hunter, is a book that will surely bring any reader deep into the plot. Kylie Galen, (main character), is caught at a party and her mom decides that it is best for her to go to a summer camp. She is being sent to Shadow Falls, a place rumored to have all of the "freaks" and the "troublemakers" staying there. Kylie soon discovers that the camp is not for trouble making teenagers and is actually something completely different. It is here that Kylie is told that she is not all human and that she is in fact a "Supernatural". At first, when I read that this was about supernatural's, (Vampires, Werewolves, etc), my first thought was "great… ANOTHER book on vampires", and I was going to put it back and go look for something different. I then read all of the reviews and they were all fantastic, so, I decided to go for it and just buy it. When I first started to read, it didn't take me long at all to get pulled into Kylie's life and what she was going through. Hunter makes it to where Kylie doesn't even know that she has special "powers" until later on in the camp, so in the beginning she is just a normal teenager having the life that many can relate to. Once she finally accepts that she is different, Kylie has to find out exactly what she is. Kylie's world is in her eyes, literally falling apart, yet to everyone else, it is coming together. Everyone at camp except for Kylie and one more main character (Derek) have completely accepted their powers and use them in ways that help everyone. Once I started to read and once the plot line started to unfold, I couldn't put the book down. I found myself always wanting to find out what would happen next and if Kylie would find out what she truly is. Not only did Hunter do a great job at writing, but I was ʻBorn at Midnightʼ cover http://2.bp.blogspot.com amazed at how well she shaped each character as well. Anybody who enjoyed the "Twilight Saga" will love this new series of Shadow Falls novels. I have already started on the sequel, "Awake at Dawn", and I love it just as much as "Born at Midnight". Its not another "Twilight" book.
