Carillon Assisted Living Of Shelby Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby is gearing up for the holiday season! If you have visited Carillon during the Christmas season in the past, you already know that they go all out. They will be hav- ing their annual Doorway to the Holidays event and are now taking door reservations! This gives you or your business/organization an opportunity to adopt and decorate a designated door in the Carillon building. You will be permitted to post a sign with your logo, as well, giving you some PR. The only cost associated with adopting a door is what you use to decorate it. They ask that all doors be decorated by November 30th. On December 15th, Carillon will host the Doorway to the Holidays party. Residents, family members, and the community will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite door. Refreshments will be served and awards will be issued to the winning door(s)' creators! Burns High School Spanish Club 5K Race Burns High School Spanish Club 5K R.A.C.E. - Respecting All Cultures and Ethnicities: Saturday, November 19 · 8am-11am. Burns High Stadium, 307 E. Cleveland County Humane Society Two events are being held in the near future to help raise money for the Cleveland County Humane Society. A Dessert Sale will be held at the Cleveland Mall on Saturday, November 19th from 1pm until 5pm. All kinds of homemade cakes, pies, breads and much more. will be available. This is a great way to get your desserts for the holidays and help our four legged friends. Cleveland County Humane Society will hold a Bake Sale Saturday, November 19th at The Cleveland Mall 1:00 - 5:00pm. Cleveland County Humane Society A Christmas Tree lot will be at Puppy Love Pet Grooming. The Louie Lot, named for an awesome great dance mix that was res- cued by Cleveland County Humane Society from Cleveland County Animal Control, will feature live mountain grown Christmas Trees that will arrive the week of Thanksgiving. They are saving lives daily of our companion animals. CCHS also has the Clifford Fund which helps with medical expenses for the shelter animals. Lost Playwrights Of Western NC Lost Playwrights of Western North Carolina will meet Saturday, November 19th from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, at Doc's Deli, at the corner of Grove and Barnwell Streets, in downtown Hendersonville. City Of Shelby Announces Curbside Recycling To Come In January 2012 Right now you can notify the City that you are interested in receiving a Recycle cart, that will be delivered to your residence in December, by signing up on our website at www.cityofshelby.com. Please locate and click on the green Recycle icon at the lower right- hand side of our home page and fi ll out the information requested and click submit. More information coming soon! Please encourage your friends, family and neighbors to recycle - it's a great thing to do for our environment and our County landfi ll. Shelby City Park 2011 Basketball Sign-Ups Sign-ups for Midget and Junior Basketball Leagues will be held at Shelby City Park. They began on Monday, November 7th and continue through Friday, December 2nd. The Midget League is for league ages 10-12 and Junior League is for league ages 13-15. All league ages are as of August 31st, 2011. Sign-ups will be held Monday-Fridays from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. At sign-up a parent or guardian must be present along with a copy of player's birth certifi - cate (if did not play in the league last year) and a $25.00 registration fee if residence is inside Shelby City Limits or a $40.00 fee for all others. Both new and returning players must sign-up in order to participate. The park offi ce will be closed on Friday November 11th for Veterans Day and Thursday and Friday, November 24th and 25th for Thanksgiving. Instructional League sign-ups for league ages 7-9 years will be held beginning Monday, November 7th through Friday December 9th. Sign-up times, league ages and rules are the same as those above for Midget and Junior Leagues. City Of Kings Mountain Applications for the annual Kings Mountain Christmas Parade are now available online at www.cityofkm.com or can be picked up from Lynda Mattox at City Hall. The parade will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 3:00PM. This years' Grand Marshal will be Larry Sprinkle of News 36. There will also be awards given to the best fl oats in six different categories: Corporate, Small Business, Service Organization, Church, Most Artistic and Best Overall. The parade will be videotaped and will be shown on C-19, the Cleveland Community College Public Access channel. Cleveland Rutherford Kidney Association Events The Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association is sponsoring the 2011 Holiday Home Tour on Saturday, December 10 - 10 am to 4 pm. This is a special day filled with signs and sounds of Christmas cheer. Take a tour of some of the most beautiful homes in historic Shelby. Price: $15.
