"We had most of the team target strong players." When asked about how she feels before the game, Houghtby commented, "I get nervous. There's lots of pressure on the goal keeper." Varsity girls also won a tournament against the Oroville Tigers 6-0 on December third. The freshman girls basketball team practices for perfection Red Bluff High School Freshman girls' basketball has had a fairly strong season so far. They have a 10-2 wins-losses ratio but have been undefeated since they started league. Both losses were to Chico High School Panthers. The Freshman girls basketball team is playing against the Chico Panthers on January 27, at 4:30 pm at Chico High School." Getting the team prepared for our next game at practice is very important. That practice we all make sure that we know what we are doing in our upcoming game, perfecting our offense, and pushing ourselves when we get on the baseline to run our liners." Amaya Reed said about how they prepare for upcoming games. Their best game so far has been Pleasant Valley where they scored over 70 points. Carly Storms said the hardest thing about playing basketball was," Mastering shooting and being pretty touchy with random strangers." The team has bonded over the past few weeks and hopes to use that bond as an advantage against their opponents. Tyler Ellenberg said,"My favorite part of it is getting to know all the other girls and getting to be on the team." Reed said," The hardest thing in the game of basketball to me is trying to keep your team positive. Sometimes when your team is struggling, they don't play as hard because of the score. It's just a game, have fun." They try to keep positive by having patience and focusing on the good instead of the bad. Their season ends February 19, where they will be playing Chico High School again for the last time of the 2014-2015 girls basketball season. Wrestling focuses on technique The whole Wrestling team has mainly just been practicing on their moves, and they've all been working on helping each other be more motivated. Freshman, Travis Hackstaff says, " I love wrestling." He states that conditioning is mainly what the team is dealing with. "I've been wrestling a little over a month now, and I can say you definitely have to be committed," said Hackstaff, "I try not to get myself to riled up, scared or nervous; I try not to think about whether I'm going to win or lose, I just wait to hear my name get called." The teams biggest competitor would be Corning. "I could probably say for our whole team that our goal is to dominate corning and for us to make it to finals," says Freshman, Isaac Aguilar, "Win or lose, at the end of the day we try to come together with our friends and give each other big pats on the backs, because we know we all tried our hardest. We all work super well with our teammates and good friends who are also apart of the team."
