hears about the Runners. The Runners are the people that go into the maze everyday and look for a way out. Despite the fact that newbies never get to be Runners, Thomas is determined to become one. The next day the leader of the Runners and the leader of the Glade both go out into the maze to investigate a dead Griever found the day before. However the Griever ends up to be alive and stings Alby (the leader). The two boys manage almost get to the gate, but not inside it before it starts to close. Against the rules Thomas runs out to aid the two leaders and ends up getting stuck on the other side of the gates. 'The Maze Runner' by James Dashner is a thrilling science fiction book that follows a teenager named Thomas. Thomas, the main character who has no memory of his past, arrives in a place called the Glade which is surrounded by a huge maze that is overrun with Grievers at night. The Grievers are mechanical creatures that hunt the population of the Glade. Huge gates close the Glade off to the maze at night then open again during the day. No one has ever survived a night locked in the maze. The Glade is located in the center of the maze with a huge elevator called "The Box". The Box brings supplies and a new boy to the Glade every month. The Box has never missed a month or brought a girl in the two years since the first boy arrived. Thomas gets a tour of the Glade the first day and told about all the possible jobs he could have. He doesn't care for any of the jobs until he Thomas has to escape the Grievers until the next day. In the meantime he starts looking for the way out of the maze. 'The Maze Runner' was a thrillingly good book. It was action packed and kept me on my toes the whole time. 'The Maze Runner' was written as an easy read and, despite its twists, the words sometimes bored me. 'The Maze Runner' can compare to the 'Hunger Games' and 'Divergent', but in some ways it is more gruesome. The characters were well devolped and every new decision made sense in copmarision to the character I enjoyed 'The Maze Runner' for its fast paced action and enticing post apocalyptic story. Brittany Lawley Staff Writer "Pretty in Pink" is an 80's romantic drama about two love- struck teenagers from very different worlds. Andie, played by Molly Ringwald, comes from a poor family and experiences high school as a social outcast. However, because of her grades and behavior in life, it is clear she will ultimately rise above them all. Blaine is a popular "richie" from the richest part of town. Andie and Blaine manage to start a relationship and realize how much they like each other. When Blaine finally asks Andie out on their first date, they quickly figure out how difficult each of their friends will make staying in a relationship. However, after an awkward and disappointing date, Blaine asks Andie to prom, and she falls in love with him. But his friends finally get to him, and Blaine ends up backing out of the date shortly after he makes it. The rest of the movie revolves around Blaine's rejection, and whether he chooses to pursue what he really wants, or follows his friend's wishes and expectations. This all leads to the big night of the prom. The movie addresses the social pressure many kids deal with from friends, and is very perceptive to the awkward fazes of dating. Although the movie has some cheesy moments that will make you laugh, the movie is funny and entertaining, and is a great movie to see.The soundtrack of "Pretty in Pink" was highly rated and produced many hits that charted on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list in May 1986. The cast provided great performances, especially that of supporting cast Jon Cryer, and Annie Potts. Annie Potts plays Iona, Andie's funny and alternative co-worker in a record store. Andie ends up wearing Iona's old prom dress after she decides to go to her own prom. You may recognize Jon Cryer from "Two and a Half Men". He plays Andie's best friend, who has been secretly in love with her since childhood. His hilarious performance as "Duckie" makes this movie. "Pretty in Pink" is terrific for teenagers and up. It has a great plot that makes you pity both Andie and Blaine, and waiting for both of their final decisions. The soundtrack and cast make a fantastic movie that will leave you happy and cheerful. The Interview is a political satire with a very controversial plot that is based around a talk show host Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his show's producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) who after landing an interview with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are contacted by the CIA and put on a mission to assassinate the North Korean leader for the good of the United States and the world. The film was scheduled to be released on October, 10, 2014 but because the North Korean government threatened to take violent action against the United States if the film was released. The film's distributor delayed the release in theaters to December 25, 2014. Although this movie is filled with the usual hilarity and ridiculous antics that come with Seth Rogen and James Franco's comedies this film, because of its political aspects is so much more especially because it could possibly make a huge impact on the world in a very real way. Rogen predicted that the film would make its way to North Korea, stating that "We were told one of the reasons they're so against the movie is that they're afraid it'll actually get into North Korea. They do have bootlegs and stuff. Maybe the tapes will make their way to North Korea and cause a revolution." Rogen's prediction is not that far off especially considering that the human rights organizations Fighters for a Free North Korea and Human Rights Foundation plan to distribute DVD copies of 'The Interview' via balloon drops and with this movie not only shedding light on injustice of that nation's government but very openly calling for a revolution who knows the impact the it could have on North Korean citizens. A revolution could be a very possible reaction. And with all of the political aspects set aside this movie was honestly hilarious it completely delivered not only witty and smart humor but a fare share of goofy and super funny jokes that made this movie entertaining for everyone not only those interested in making fun of North Korea. Overall, this movie was well-rounded and will be remembered forever because of its courage and honesty 'Perfect Chemistry' by Simone Elkeles is an amazing book about how one girl changed the life of a gangbanger and how a boy changed the life of a perfect little princess. Brittany Ellis, senior at Fairfield High, lives the perfect life, she has designer clothes, a brand new car, and has the picture perfect body every girl dreams of. Everyone envies her, just not the real her. They envy what she wants the world to think of her, but the problem is it's not the real her. Her life at home is disastrous, with a mother who blames her for everything, a sister who is not only mentally but physically disabled, and a father who plays an invisible dad role, it isn't as glamorous as it seems to the outside world. The life of Alejandro Fuentes, also known as Alex Fuentes and a senior at Fairfield High, doesn't have such a great life either. He plays the father role for his two little brothers Carlos and Luis, making sure they don't get into the same trouble he did at their age. Alex got into a gang, the Latino Blood gang to be exact, after his dad passed. It was the same gang his dad was in and Alex decided to step up and pick up where his dad left off. So, first day of school everything seems to be great, that is until chemistry when Brittany and Alex are assigned to be lab partners. They hate each other from the start and it doesn't look like its going to get any better. Colin, Brittany's boyfriend, doesn't like the arrangement anymore than she does but both have tried changing Mrs. Petersen's mind and failed. Time goes on and she sees he's not all that bad, you might even say she has feelings for him and him for her. The only problem is she already has a boyfriend, he's the football team's captain, gorgeous, and very sweet. Besides, Alex is just a gang banger, right? Well anyways, before I spoil it, This book is amazing. I love the way it shows how different people aren't always as bad as you may think. It has the certain 'Cinderella' theme, but definitely modernized and the way it goes into detail is certainly brilliant. There definitely is some plot twists to it to keep the reader engaged and they did a great job at it. 'Perfect Chemistry' is certainly not a book you'll be wanting to put down anytime soon. concerning one of the most controversial topics of our generation.
