Let's Go Ice Skating! In Rutherford County? Something new made possible by modern technology is taking place at Chuck Hardin's Kidz Play at 114 Michael Drive in Forest City. The popular indoor infl atable playground has just added an outdoor skating rink! That's right, outdoor skating rink! The rink is presently 30 foot by 60 foot. It requires no refrigera- tion and you can skate for an hour and 15 minutes ($5.00 for children, $7.00 for adults) and they even provide you with the ice skates! The skating is done on half inch synthetic panels which have been developed by a company in South Carolina. You will be amazed how you can skate on the Four year old Jacob puts his skates on and goes for a glide! surface. It is not cold, just slick. For now, it is being called Winter Skate at Kidz Play. If it proves to be very popular, the size of the rink will be doubled! This is a fi rst for Rutherford County! There are no skating rinks in any surrounding counties that we know of. Winter Skate at Kidz Play should be something exclusive, new, and extra special for many of us who have skated and many who would like to learn. This past Wednesday, October 12, the Viking cheerleaders from East Rutherford Middle School were invited to come and test the new rink. Other family and friends also came out to experi- ence the new technology. The offi cial opening of Winter Skate at Kidz Play will be Friday, November 4th. Hours of operation weekly will be 1pm to 7pm Monday through Thursday; 10am to 11pm Friday and Saturday; and 2pm to 6pm on Sunday. Outdoor ice skating in Rutherford County is here and you can enjoy it even if the sun is shinning! What will they think of next? in HD.
