SANTA CRUZ SENTINEL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2014 LIVE IT UP! 19 I FEEL BAD ABOUT GETTING OLD SOMETIMES. YOU PROBABLY DO TOO. But we are all too polite to gripe out loud about the cruelties of age. The sagging necks, the creaky joints, ankles that no longer bound down stairs, the long sideways glance at stilettos, wondering if today is the day your arms go covered for good. I know it's minor compared to the atrocities of geopolitical shenanigans, but I am here and not there, and what plagues me here is that I am running out of time to be sure I've made something of my life. HERE'S WHAT I'M UP TO. Let's raise a ruckus. There are 8-10,000 of us turning 65 each day (depending on who you ask). We still have BOOM! There is still time to do your best work. It may be ushering your parents or siblings or best buddies out of the world, atoning with children, or giving back to the community. But we need to talk about it. Let's get it out in the open. What can we teach the community? How do we prepare for our 70s, 80s, and 90's? Let's sparkle out not sputter out. Plan now for the next chapter. Let's redefine the second half.
