Saturday, August 27th, 2011, however marked the end of an era for our family, employees and customers. It was the fi nal day of our operation. For many, a trip to the Shelby Fish Camp meant more than a meal. It was a place for families and friends to meet, talk about old times or just relax and enjoy the simple pleasure that good food and a friendly atmosphere can provide. Many of our customers have become our close friends, and extended members of our family. Through our kitchen portal, we have joyously watched countless children grow up and have children of their own and have sadly experienced the passing of old friends. We feel truly blessed to have served you through the years and want to express our sincere appreciation. We will always treasure the memories of our customers, our faithful employees and our business associ- ates. We will always have you in our hearts. Thank you for your support over the years, but more importantly, thanks for your love and friendship. We will miss seeing you. God bless each of you for allowing us to serve you, the wonderful people of Cleveland County for the past 52 years. Without trying to explain the complexities of the Trinity and eternity, the two had never known anything but complete unity. So what must have been racing through the Father's mind? Regret surely pierced His emotional being. If only He had resisted His thoughts to create man in the fi rst place, there would never have been a need to send a Savior. Just before God would send the fl ood in Noah's day, the Bible says that He "grieved" for having created man. Was that grief caused in part by foreseeing the pain and suffering that the Son would eventually endure on the cross? Was God anxious? Not in the sense of worry but in an- ticipation. Of course time is irrelevant to God, He knows no concept of deadlines and calendars. Yet when He had fi rst instituted the plan of salvation did some type of paternal clock begin to click off time before the day when the Son was for the fi rst time removed from His presence? Certainly the Father experienced pain. Just the thought of being separated from a child causes the heart to hurt. Added with the foreknowledge of the pain that the Son would ul- timately suffer at the hands of His crucifi ers, it makes one wonder how He ever allowed Him out of His presence. Love was in the Father's thoughts. Of that I'm certain. Not love for the Son, that of course is a given, but rather love for us. No other emotion could have compelled Him to experi- ence all the others. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
