Around some twenty years ago, before Todd, my son was hurt on a mo- torcycle, several young men had gathered in an uptown, upstairs building to make music. There was a man there who was much older, he was drunk and drugged up on pills. There was a misunderstanding and the older man pulled a knife and cut my son under his eye. Todd did what anyone would have done, he defended himself and knocked the older man down the stairs. Thinking the fi ght was over, Todd turned his back on the man. The man slowly came to himself and got back up. He charged my son, Todd and stabbed him in the back. Brian Fitch, the father of Michael Dalton Fitch, ran between this man and my son, Todd, knocking the man to the ground and causing the knife to fl y from his hand, saving my son's life. Michael Dalton Fitch lost his life trying to save someone else. Brian Fitch risked his life doing the very same thing some twenty years before. Yes, hero just runs in the family.
