Scoop some ice cream into a bowl, top it with syrup, whipped cream and nuts, and you've got a sundae. Although easy to make, sundaes came about by accident. Three towns claim to be the place where the sundae was born: Evanston, IL, Two Rivers, WI, and Ithaca, NY. In Evanston, selling soda water became illegal on Sundays, so soda fountain shops started selling ice cream sodas without the soda. In Two Rivers, a couple of shop owners started serving sundaes after a customer asked for some ice cream topped with the syrup used in sodas. In Ithaca, a shop owner spiced up a dish of ice cream for a customer with cherry syrup and a candied cherry. These Sunday treats became known as sundaes. The history of the sundae may be in question, but the taste isn't. Almost everyone who has ever had a sundae agrees it is a delicious treat. WORD SEARCH CROSSWORD SUDUKO ANSWER KEYS:
