Hot As The Fourth Of July! We have a heat wave com- ing up for our long weekend. Get ready now for a real scorcher this holiday weekend. The atmosphere will set up in a perfect position to put our area directly into the fiery furnace with very little chance of a cooling shower. A large and strong high pressure will build over top of the western Carolinas beginning late Friday, and will get stronger all through the weekend until Monday, when it reaches maxi- mum strength. This is perfect timing to deliver the hottest air this summer, just in time for the 4th of July. I’m expecting our temperatures to go right up to 100 degrees on a couple of afternoons, and not much relief at night, with tempera- tures staying close to 78 or 80 degrees for lows! Areas in the northern sections around Golden Valley or Casar have a very slight chance of a cooling late afternoon thunder- storm, but most of us won’t get hit with those until much later next week. The air will be stagnant, and even danger- ous to breathe, so please limit outdoor activities, and please check on the elderly and keep your pets hydrated and offer some cool air conditioning from time to time.
