Public CPR & First Aid Classes Monthly Covered Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is important for all persons, young and old to know especially caregivers or others working with older adults. Being trained and prepared for emergency situations, which can arise when least expected would be extremely valuable for the victim as well as the CPR provider. Valuable time will not be lost waiting on the trained professionals of EMS or Fire Department responders. The sooner aid can be rendered the better the chances are for any victim. The Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center will hold an Adult CPR and First Aid classes on June 16 2011 and June 22, 2011 at 1:30 pm. These classes are open to the public as well as being required for all COA Staff and are strongly encouraged for any volunteer/caregiver working with the senior adult population of the county. The knowledge gained at either of these classes could help save a life. Please note that you only have to attend one of the classes, not both. Trained CPR instructors from Healthy @ Home will guide class members through emergency situations, which require CPR and First Aid as well as demonstrate the proper emergency response techniques for such situations. Class participants who have never had CPR training or have let their certification lapse must also demonstrate their ability to perform the correct CPR techniques to receive certification. The cost for these persons will be $10. If you are currently certified but would like a refresher on the most up to date CPR information, you are invited to join the class as well, free of charge. It’s never a bad idea to take the time to refresh your memory. Please contact the Senior Center (704-482-3488) to register for one of these essential classes. Pre-registration is required. Advance payment of fees would be appreciated but not required – payment may be made at the time of the class.
