The luncheon started out to encourage fellowship, but created something much more. Margie Stillwell, member and pastor's wife of Otwell Wesleyan Church, planned a surprise for a very deserving lady. When Marcia Hill, of Ot- well, showed up, she had no idea of anything but fellow- ship and a good meal. Mar- cia has had a dream for over 28 years now. She talks of how the Lord put on her heart to go on a mission trip to Haiti to help the children. "It has been a long 28 years. There have been tears and prayers and hopes and wish- es, but the time is coming," said Marcia. The ladies covered Mar- cia in a bag with syrup on it and then proceeded to put money in envelopes and stick them on her. She was blindfolded so she has no clue who gave what. No names were given as all were just wanting to help out. She raised enough mon- ey to take 3-50 pound pack- ages on the plane with her. These packages will con- tain small toys, art supplies, and other items for the chil- dren when she gets there. "I was just so overwhelmed with the love and kindness the Lord showed through these people," says Marcia about it all. Marcia will be working with a foundation that helps to stop human trafficking. Dr. Ted Waflart certified as Medical Review Officer at Memorial Hospital Dr. Theodore Waflart, Jr. recently qualified as a certi- fied Medical Review Officer (MRO). Dr. Waflart is a phy- sician at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center's Industrial Medicine Clinic (IMED), located at 695 West 2nd Street in Jasper. Feder- al law (49 CFR Part 40 of the Federal Register) mandates that a certified MRO must make the final determina- tion of whether a positive lab- oratory test represents sub- stance abuse. Certification is intended to ensure the pub- lic of quality services and the maintenance of ethical con- duct by qualified physicians involved in drug and alcohol testing review. Dr. Waflart was certified by the Medical Review Of- ficer Certification Council (MROCC), an independent physician-based certifying body that conducts a rig- orous and extensive appli- cation process and written credentialing examination to identify licensed physi- cians with the highest pro- fessional standards of med- ical expertise and practical skills necessary to evaluate drug and alcohol test results in public and private sectors of the workplace. The certified MRO may also act as a valuable re- source to protect the com- pany, helping with policies and regulatory issues, as well as providing related services such as drug test- ing collections, breath alco- hol testing services, coordi- nation of laboratory servic- es, laboratory performance testing, and preparation of summary reports for em- ployers. MROCC certifica- tion indicates that a physi- cian is well-prepared to han- dle all essential aspects of workplace drug and alcohol testing programs.
