Justin Harper J. Justin Harper Summer Art Camp 2014 Are you looking for something to enrich you kids' brains during the summer? The Cleve- land County Arts Council is the place to be! If you have a budding Vincent van Gogh, Georgia O'Keeffe, Taylor Swift, or Bruno Mars and they are interested in being creative, this is it! Some of the best teachers around take time from their summer to do what they love, that is to teach kids how to express their own inner artist. There are workshops for painting, drawing their favorite themes like "Frozen" and "Minecraft" and more. There will also be workshops for Paper Machei Sculptures, bookmak- ing, mixed media projects, and even mud! This year will be the second year that the Arts Council Summer Camp will feature special music workshops as well! If you are interested in learning the guitar, Professor Al Dunkleman will teach two beginning guitar classes July 7-11. This year, I will host two special music workshops: June 9-13 - "Songwriting 101" is a music camp for serious, creative kids who want to take their songwriting to the next level. We will learn how to write lyrics, sing melodies and use chords to create and perform songs. Students will create and record their own composition as a result of this workshop. If you want to be the next Bruno Mars or Taylor Swift, this class is for you! June 16-20 - "Drum Circle Ensemble" Do your kids constantly beat out rhythms at the dinner table? This workshop will inspire your energetic children to play rhythms from all over the world. Students will learn how the rhythms they hear on the radio can be interpreted into hand percussion.
