C-4 Wednesday, April 23, 2014 The Press-Dispatch H Church news continued from page 1 PAWS pet of the week "A dog is a smile and a wagging tail. What is in between doesn't matter much"—Clara Ortega. This week PAWS is featuring one of our great old timers named Jack, who has lived at PAWS for seven years. He has probably been overlooked be- cause he is a big, black dog. Consistent- ly across the country at shelter after shelter the wait time for big black dogs, especially males, is longer than for any other type of dog. Jack is a little shy and a little over- weight, but he still keeps the faith that someone might want an older, slower, sweet-natured special friend. He is a lab mix and loves to take long naps on his bed, and would make a great compan- ion for someone who lives alone or an older couple who would love a compan- ion animal. To adopt Jack, call 812-354-9894. this week paWs is featuring an older sweet-natured lab named jack, who would make a great companion for someone who lives alone or an older couple. to adopt jack, call 812-354-9894. The truly wonderful news is that God loves us in spite of the fact that we are help- less sinners. He sent Christ to die for us. This is how God showed his love among us. He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacri- fice for our sins" (I John 4:9 10). Come visit us, our doors are always open to you. pentecost passion Nineteenth-century evan- gelist Dwight L. Moody was walking down a New York City street, thinking about a sentence he'd heard: "The world has yet to see what God can do with a man who is wholly yielded to him." Suddenly Moody felt a great yearning and cried out, "O God, make me that man! " He was so overwhelmed with God's love and with heartfelt passion to reach lost peo- ple that he had to stop at a friend's house to rest. In Birth of the Body, Ray Stedman says this is what Luke is talking about when he describes the events of Pentecost. "When John the Baptist predicted that Jesus would come and baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire, he meant that there would be an unexplainable passion about the church." As we feel the Pentecost passion, let's yield ourselves wholly to God and see what he does with us! Office hours: 9 -noon, Mon- day-Friday. Phone: 354-6844. Boyd Heldring, Pastor Amy Melhiser, Secretary neW libertY g.b.church coe Sunday school 9:30 a.m., Ryan Edrington, Superin- tendent, Rev. Gary Pancake, Assistant; Sunday morning worship 10 :30 a.m. Wonderful Easter week- end at New Liberty. We en- joyed the beautiful weath- er God provided. Congratulations to a spe- cial couple who will be mar- ried at the church this week. Earth Day is Tuesday and Administrative Profession- als Day will be Wednesday. We will again have a very busy May. More coming next week. Continue to pray for those who are in need. We have so many on our prayer list. God is answering prayers and performing miracles every day. Keep up the faith. God is good. Come join us at our ser- vices. Everyone is welcome. Our Mission Statement: Loving the 99, always look- ing for the one. Gary Pancake, Pastor Ivan Mason, Reporter iva union church Sunday school 9:30 a.m. followed by a short worship service; Wednesday Bible study 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Mary Kathryn Gray, Re- porter house oF MercY church Sunday morning service 10 a.m.; Teen class and children's Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fourth Sunday of the month will be nurs- ing home services at Am- ber Manor; Thursday night service at 7 p.m. As we have celebrated Easter as the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, let us stay focused in our walk with Him that one day we will be resurrected into that new body and our heavenly home. Remember, without death there can be no res- urrection, check your life and see what needs to die for you to be resurrected in- to what the Lord so desires. Is the Holy Spirit mov- ing in your arena of life? A church should resem- ble the book of Acts. Just a thought for many to pon- der. May the God of heaven sit upon the throne of your heart and you be pleasing to Him. We pray that you find a church to attend and find and feel the presence of God. Remember the sick and shut-ins, keep them in your prayers. May your week be blessed with the love and joy of the Lord. George Bruce, Pastor
