In Winslow, the river is below the flood stage, but some fields and parts of the Riverside Park still have puddles, ponds or small lakes. The week start- ed cold and we used that winter heating again. The weekend ended up with sunny skies and temps in the 60s and 70s just in time for Easter. The bon- fires to roast marshmal- lows were seen in the Brownstown part of Winslow. The flowering trees and bush- es are so colorful among the trees in bloom for sum- mer shade. I heard the sounds of kids one day and it put a smile on my face to hear such playful sounds again. The granddaughter was here for some time and the egg hunts were a pop- ular event. So on Sunday, Mom, Norm, Daniel and I hid or helped with the hid- ing of about 49 eggs for Ky- ana to find on lots of land and as she opened each one, she got candy and money of all sorts, and with a special egg, she got a circus ticket for her to attend and have loads of family fun. She al- so colored a clown to enter for a contest when she is at the circus show and she will hopefully win a prize. Speaking of Kyana, her second grade classes at Ferdinand Elementary had a coffee house poetry read- ing and the stage back- drop was a brick wall with curtains draped and white lights hanging from the top. Then a chair and music stand were set up for their poetry works, and the audi- ence members were family members who sat at tables with a candle on it. The second graders, in- cluding Kyana (no I'm not proud) read their well writ- ten poems and then it was Kyana's turn, and cameras were pointing at her as the read a poem called "Blue." Every word came out clear and loud as if she was in front of all parents and fami- ly. This was the time Grand- ma Bard had such a smile to hear her (Kyana) grow up, yes, even when she is in the second grade. It was also good to see the future generation out to hunt eggs with the fami- ly at grandma's house. Eas- ter Sunday can be remem- bered for a lifetime after- wards. Hot dogs, pork and beans, cottage cheese and something to drink were served as Sunday dinner. I hope your Easter was grand and don't forget the circus in Winslow April 26. Okay, I'll stop the rambling on and remind you to smile, wave and say "hi" to every- one you see this week. Pregnant... or think you are?
