This annual observance honors and celebrates the vast contribu- tions of social work- ers everywhere. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) initiated National Professional Social Work Month in 1962 as a time to honor social workers, in addition to raising public awareness about the social work profession. In 1984, President Ronald Care Solution Social Workers: Chris Melton, Banzen Warren, Sarah Lail, and Sandy Lynch Reagan officially designated March as Social Work Month. Cleveland County is fortunate to have a hundred plus dedicated and caring professional social workers serving our area. You can find them working in Hospice, Palliative Care, Medical Centers, Nursing Homes, Department of Social Services, Care Solutions and many other services located through out the county. Care Solutions has four social workers, also known as care managers on staff. Pictured above: Chris Melton, Banzen Warren, Sarah Lail, and Sandy Lynch. They work daily to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients. “It’s rewarding to see a change in a person’s life and know you had something to do with it,” states Lynch. Sarah Lail states, “Living a life of service to others is more of a blessing to me than the people that I work with in the home.” Banzen Warren states, “We are called to serve others and I am so thankful to be able to help those in need in my own community everyday as a Social Worker with Care Solutions. Knowing you are where God has placed you doing the work He has given you is of greater value than any other measure of “job satisfaction”. Chris Melton, sates he knew in college that he wanted to be a social worker. While at Gardner Webb University, he had his first experience with human services work when he volunteered with underprivileged children. Social workers have been making a positive difference in our society for over a century. So during the month of March take time to pay tribute to a group of dedicated professionals who are improving society by working with, and advocating for others in need. Let a social worker know just how much he or she is appreciated! Call Jane Wright, Community Outreach Specialist for your caregiving concerns 980-487-4777.
