They are more infl uenced by what they see rather than how they feel. They seek admiration and respect. In a nutshell, men need building up and women need to feel loved. For these reasons God gives 2 seperate commands for men and women. He fi rst says that women should submit themselves to their husbands (Eph. 5:22). Why? Because men need deep down to feel like protectors and providers. And whether we men admit it or not, we have fragile egos that need to be built up from time to time. Men need to feel important and essential. In regards to husbands, God says that they are to love their wives (Eph. 5:25). Why? Because that’s what women need and crave. They often need simply for someone to hold them. Listen to them. Love them. God didn’t have His thoughts penned on paper in order for one side to feel inferior or the other side to feel superior. He did so in order that both sides get their needs met. And when one partner meets the needs of the other, that other partner is more inclined and willing to do the same. Thus is created a powerful partnership (not dictatorship) utilizing each other’s gifts for a mutual goal. So with all this in mind, two pieces of advice come to mind. Men if you want to lead you must be willing to love. And la- dies, if you want to be loved, you must be willing to let the man lead - or let him think so anyway!
