Stone scored a team-high 13 points and Brook Nalley added 11 as the Pike Central Middle School eighth grade girls' basketball team rolled to a 46-19 win over host Holy Family on Monday, Dec. 2. Playing for the first time since posting a 49-27 win over South Spencer on Nov. 21, the Lady Chargers improved to 6-0. Pike Central, after staking itself to a 16-7 lead in the first period, outscored Holy Family 160 in the second quarter to extend its lead to 32-7 at halftime. Nalley, Knight noted, "played outstanding," leading the Lady Chargers with more than 10 steals, while Jalah Barnes added nine points in the winning effort. "Jalah Barnes stepped up again and played her heart out," Knight said. "She controlled the boards and have many putbacks off rebounds." Stone, Knight added, "kept knocking down the jumpers and driving to the rim." "Offensively, we looked good, but still looking for a few more girls to step up and be a threat to score," Knight said. Nalley, Demi Croak and Jordan Montgomery all played "very impressively" on the defensive end, Knight added. The Lady Chargers return to action on Thursday, Dec. 5, when they will travel to North Knox.
