A-6 The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, November 27, 2013 spell bowl competition Otwell Elementary School's Spell Bowl team participated in the area Spell Bowl Competition, November 21 at Ireland Elementary School. Otwell placed second in their class. The team is coached by Terra Knust. Petersburg Elementary's Spell Bowl team competed in competition Thursday night at Ireland Elementary. The team placed third and received praise from other educators in attendance on their exemplary behavior. Otwell Elementary fifth grade students Maddie Williams, daughter of Richard and Tammy Williams and Gracie Jones, daughter of Greg Jones, and Dwayne and Michelle Sanders, received ribbons at the Spell Bowl competition for near perfect scores. They each spelled six out of seven words correct. The Winslow Elementary Spell Bowl Team competed in the Indiana Academic Spell Bowl Competition at Ireland Elementary. Spell Bowl members are front row: Kaila Lamey, Emma McKinney, Nevaeh LeMond, Alex Clark, Connor Bolin, Jaiden Conder and Autumn Fulps. Second row: David Glaser, Jackson Smith, Sean Keith, Mikayla Satterfield, Sophie Carnahan and Colten Sanders. Not pictured: Kimmie Truitt and Stormy Risley. The team is coached by Abby Aldridge. The WES Spell Bowl Team members are excited to get the spelling started. Fifth grader Colten Sanders, from Stephanie Sallee's classroom, received a "near-perfect score" ribbon at the competition. All the team members did a great job.
