Where the Spirit Dwells We are living in a time when many do not want the truth of the Word preached because it interferes with their way of life. God spoke in His Word that in the last days there would be those with itching ears and also false prophets that would scratch those ears. We are living in the last of the last days and souls are being lost into the hands of the enemy. It is time for the church to become real and reach out into the harvest fields. Keep the sick and afflicted in your prayers. Love God completely and your neighbor as yourself. Have a blessed week, come by and visit, and may Jesus be the King that sits on the throne of your heart. George Bruce, Pastor Union Community Church 3082 N. But America's neighbors to the north and south celebrated it even earlier than the Pilgrim's famed meal in 1621. Canada's first Thanksgiving feast, hosted by English explorer Martin Frobisher, occurred in Newfoundland in 1578. The country's Thanksgiving observance is now on the second Monday in October, with holiday fixings that are similar to those enjoyed by Americans. In Mexico in 1598, a large group of explorers, soldiers and Franciscans traveled on sand dunes in what's now the American Southwest. They were running low on water, so when they reached the Rio Grande, they expressed gratitude to God by feasting on fish, duck and geese. No official date is set for Thanksgiving celebrations in Mexico. People of all nationalities have been giving thanks to God for as long as we've been on the earth. Office hours: 9-noon, Monday-Friday. Phone: 3546844. Happy Thanksgiving from our church to yours and those reading this. Boyd Heldring, Pastor Amy Melhiser, Secretary Shoebox packing party Children and volunteers at Petersburg Free Methodist Yahweh Youth Ministries gather to pray after packing 84 shoeboxes last Wednesday evening. If you are looking for a Full Gospel Church, that believes in the Gifts of the Spirit in operation and teaches that the Five Fold Ministry is needed for the perfecting of the Saints. Then Pastor Mark and First Lady Sandy would like to take this time to welcome you to come and join us. "After He had dismissed the multitudes, He went up into the hills by Himself to pray. When it was evening, He was still there alone" (Matthew 14:23). Spending time alone with God in a quiet place is vital to me and I believe it is also vital for you. Don't wait until some difficulty or tragedy demands that you spend time with God in order to find answers to your situation. Seek God first and regularly, and then you will already be strong spiritually and enabled to deal with anything that comes. If Jesus needed to be alone with God the Father, then we certainly need it. Hope to see you in church. Mark Davis, Pastor Greg Davis, Assoc. Pastor and Music Director Vickie Robling, Reporter Cal l Continued from page 1 Joe Mama's 350 W.
