Close Call! A southern storm will be passing extremely close to us on Saturday, and as of this writing it’s still too close to call! Normally a Gulf Low is our best chance at snowfall around here, but the models are still a smidge warm for the bulk of the storm, however there’s always the chance the cold air could sneak in here just before the moisture arrives, giving a white surprise. This is a system you’ll want to monitor, via my weatherblog. The options are rain for us, or rain to snow, or even a miss to the south if the storm never throws enough moisture into North Carolina. Beyond this, we remain cold, but maybe not as cold as the record breaking stuff earlier this week. The block in Canada is still there, hurtling cold air southbound, and until it breaks, I don’t see any major warmups. But eventually this pattern will collapse and I’m predicting we’ll have a really balmy spell of record warmth at some point in the next few weeks.
