Freshman football hoping for a A whole new opportunity better than previous years' teams awaits girls golf season Grey Grotke Staff Writer It's the beginning of a new sports season again. I don't have to tell you what that means for all the sports teams. But just in case you forgot, I may need to remind you, however, that there is a new group of football players that have are sometimes completely overlooked by everyone else: the freshmen. In all seriousness though, we all want to see our new team do well. Coach Minto described the team as aggressive, willing to learn, and willing to work as a team. He stated that a decent size of the team had experience on football teams already, and that a number of individuals while lacking in experience were naturally talented and quick learners. When asked how he thought this season he said that the teams will do "Definitely better than last year," The only weakness Minto said he saw in the team, was that there weren't many people to fill gaps in the team for injuries or absences for any other reason. Coach Minto says he enjoys coaching, part of the reason he became a teacher was so he could coach, and part of the reason he became a coach was so he could teach. Minto coaches three sports a year, football, wrestling and track, so lets hope all that coaching gives Minto enough experience to help this years Frosh Football do well. We are all looking at you Minto. No stress right? Freshman football player Giovanni Mejia said he enjoyed playing football with other students and friends. He even boldly stated that he believes this years team will "Probably break that freshman streak," Freshman Andre Avila said thus far he thought foot ball here was "great" and that he thought the team was friendly. He hopes they have good season, and believes that they will. The freshman football team's first game is September 5 at Oroville High School.
