Arts and Entertainment Page 4 August 30, 2013 'Jobs' falls flat in the eyes of the critics Garrett Ward Staff Writer The movie 'Jobs' did not live up to the advertised hype and concept of a Steve Jobs' biopic. Skeptics foreshadowed the potential box office bomb for several reasons including the lack of an enticing plot and the overall forced nature of the project. The title of the production may misguide you in the fact that the movie is more focused on the creation of Apple rather than developing Steve Jobs as an in-depth, heartfelt character. This movie was pushed into productions too quickly after the death of Steve Jobs to try and capture some of the looming attention and interest people had about this former CEO giant who led Apple to the top tier of technological royalty. However, the movie includes some interesting focal points on Steve's personality and career as well as illuminated an impressive acting performance by Ashton http://sickestaddictions.com Kutcher. Ultimately though, 'Jobs' failed to construct a complete picture of the mastermind and paid for it with its massive box office disappointment. The movie 'Jobs' draws several comparisons to the previous box office hit, 'The Social Network.' Both movies are supposedly centered on exploiting the geeky main character's personality, mentality, and overall journey to success. However, the main difference between the two movies is quite simply the excitement of the plot. Making the evolution of the retro household computer seem exciting and thrilling is a challenging task, but the Bluffer Staff Pick 'Ender's Game'(1985) Grey Grotke Staff Writer With the movie of "Ender's Game" set to come in theaters in November, the original book by Orson Scott Card has made a small comeback. The work of science fiction is set in a far future, where two extraterrestrial attacks on earth have formed a fearful government that has set itself in constant preparation for another otherworldly attack. The story follows Ender through his intensive training at battle school, where he, along with many other among his, is prepared for a third alien war. The battle school designs multiple tests, formatted to appear almost like games or sport competitions to the children. The authorities at the battle school have multiple methods to bring the highest performing children up to the most advanced levels. The book shows this selection from Ender's eye, as he ranks his way up into the highest tier of battle school. Filled with intricate strategies, plot twists, and touching character development, Enders game is an excellent read which I would recommend to anyone who feels as if too much is expected of them from their older generation. This book is movie producers sure tried to with their ongoing background music and slow motion montages which produced quite laughable movie scene. The shallow plot jumped from year to year to cover as many historical events in the Apple Company's career rather than further develop the background 'Jobs' just doesn't do the job The 'Yeezus' album causes much controversy among listeners Garrett Ward Staff Writer "Yeezus" was an original, enthralling album released this summer that garnered much attention toward not only Kanye West, but the entire hip hop world. Released in late June, this album hit the nation unexpectedly in several ways. The public really had no idea West had been working on a new album especially with his surrounding love fiasco and new baby, North, being born only three days before the release of the album. The public the book was written in 1984." had an immediate Because of the controversy reaction to West's Card's views have stirred interesting new style, up, it is unlikely that movies themes, lyrics, and, of of the sequels will be made. course, baby's name. The combination I do not; in anyway, of Kanye's nickname, support Card's views. I do, Yee, and the religious however, appreciate his works symbol, Jesus, should of science fiction, and plan be no surprise to music on seeing the movie anyway. fans who know Kanye's I appreciated his books and personality. West is do not believe they reflect all a trailblazer in the of his beliefs. Ultimately, I music industry who would recommend "Ender's constantly changes his Game" willing to read it, for style and perspective to ironically enough, it's largely stay fresh and current. The album "Yeezus" about the misfits in society.  does not hold back from this expectation. Although, many traditional Kanye West fans may be initially turned off by West's defiant, rogue songs that push away from some of his previous styles. Music critics have had some interesting Great sci-fi novel, well worth the debates articulating West's read before seeing the movie different lyrical bars and http://wwwcache.wraltechwire.com/ probably one of my favorites, and lovers of the original book can only hope that the movie will be able to do the story justice, but based off the trailers I myself am fairly excited. Though not quite as philosophical or political as its sequel, "Speaker for the Dead" "Ender's Game" still raises some questions about society. Unfortunately, the movie and book are being struck down by parts of society due to the rather controversial views of the author. People have associated the author's homophobic and anti-Obama views with his books, despite his statement in response to the boycott the LGBT group "geeks out" has promoted, in which he said "Ender's Game is set more than a century in the future and has nothing to do with political issues that did not exist when personal relations of Steve himself. Steve's moral decisions throughout the unfolding of events grew more annoying and confusing because of the lack of background influence. In short, the story of Steve Jobs and the creation of Apple were more fit in the form of a documentary. There is just too much vital information in the complex mind of the deceased Steve to pick and choose which events are most important to display in a two hour time period. The movie concludes around the year 1997 and never even touches on the creation of the iPod, iPhone, or Macbook. Even with the production's shallow plot, you were left wanting more after the abrupt ending. Simply put, the plot and storyline should have either included more details pertaining toward Steve's inspiration and background or more details toward the modern generations of Apple. drawing connections to who West is actually mad at. This lyrically dark album embodies West's strong opinions on ethnicity, gender, and constant power struggle and he uses vile descriptions to do so. The most dominating opinion would be the overtly addressed theme of racial struggles which is lucid in song titles such as "Black Skinhead" and "New Slaves." If one is capable of looking pass West's hard-hitting lyrics, he or she may find some interesting arisen topics that Kanye is simply not happy about. For example, in the song "New Slaves" West is new-era attempt of simplistic trap beats may have backfired according to some of the most recent album feedback. All in all, Kanye West's unexpected summer album caught the attention of music fans and interested onlookers alike. In retrospect, the album may have been released and critically acclaimed more than necessary because of the surrounding media in West's life. However, West introduces a whole new game to the hip hop world that is unfamiliar to most of our innocent ears. Kanye West's album "Yeezus" should not be categorized with some of his other legendary works such as "My Beautiful Dark, Twisted Fantasy" due to the incomparable lyrical styles and differing beats. In reality, the album "Yeezus" may have not achieved the greatness proclaimed by the stargazing Kanye West, but it purposed plenty of debate, dispute, and entertainment in the music industry. http://hasitleaked.com very blunt and his aggressive expression turned more than a few heads with his statements about "leading" instead of "following". However, if one is not a fan of Kanye West and his work, he or she may have added plenty fuel to their fire. His Unique and different album, though definitely not for everybody App of the Issue Plants vs. Zombies are back, and better than ever before. Available in the App Store, "Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time". As you travel through time to defend your home from zombies using the power of gardening – is as charming and witty as ever. I recommend this game to smartphone users who have a knack for quick organization. The game requires you to set up a defence line consisting of sunflowers, flowers that shoot, and even more. The game is designed to test your time management skills as well. The best part? This app is free!. It's similar to its desktop origin in that you feel as if the creator's goal is to entertain players, not just to make money. I am impressed with the creator's ability to add new fun twist, but the main idea has stayed true to the original game. 529-2927 $1.00 off of $2.50 purchase with this ad
