During the meeting, the commission approved re-authorizing a public hearing on proposed ordinance amendments that would allow Mandel Group, Inc. to build about 60 apartments with high-end, modern amenities in the Town Centre at the corner of Capitol Drive and Brookfield Road. After the public hearing is held, the plans for the development still need to be approved by the commission and Common Council. "Mandel Group is pleased to be part of such a vibrant retail and office center. The development of these residences is consistent with our mission to develop walkable communities throughout the area and is a natural extension of the multifamily developments along Thomson Drive," said Phillip Aiello, senior development manag- Charles Auer/Freeman Staff Glass pieces and paintings are on display for sale at River's End Gallery in Waukesha. The small building, which is at the southwest corner of Thomson Drive and Brookfield Road, is expected to open by the end of 2014, followed by the larger building at the northeast corner of Thomson Drive and Richland Parkway . "Mandel Group is the preeminent developer of luxury apartments in the Wisconsin market. Their luxury apartments and amenities align with our vision for the overall development, and are consistent with the development goals of the city of Brookfield," said Scott Mitchell, senior vice president of strategic investment funds at Phillips Edison & Co., owner of the Towne Centre. "Our site is attractive due to the demographics, strength of Sendik`s Fine Foods and our plan for continued improvements to the center and merchandising mix of retailers and restaurants." – Special to The Freeman By Katherine Michalets Special to The Freeman ELM GROVE – After seven years of operating a successful art gallery in downtown Waukesha, River's End Gallery owner Joan Skimmons plans to open a second location in Elm Grove to make it easier for some of her customers who don't want or are unable to drive into the city. "There are some people in the area that find it difficult to get around Waukesha. It is a misperception, but I am not able to fight that misperception," Skimmons said. "This gives them another opportunity to find us." The new gallery is set to open Sept. 4 at 890 Elm Grove Road, Suite 101, and will be about 2,000 square feet. Combined, the two galleries will have 5,500 square feet of art and 150 artists. Skimmons said the Elm Grove gallery will have the same types of products as the Waukesha location and will continue the business's focus on glass, jewelry, Assorted Meats All Season Long! These symptoms can strike at any time, leaving Jenny feeling helpless when trying to complete every day tasks. Jenny thought she needed cleaning help, but realized she needed a company that offered much more than cleaning. She needed a company that offered meal preparation, safety and security so she could remain independent in her home with her disability as she ages. Jenny is a non-traditional client that has had her caregiver Dawn since June 2011. Together they cut coupons, clean, sort the mail, decorate for holidays and cook mealsseparating them for easy access at a later time-and mostly laugh a lot over life's challenges. "I am more comfortable when my home is clean and organized. It gives me a sense of comfort and happiness," said Jenny. More importantly, with a personal companion and caregiver, Jenny is kept positive and her symptoms remain dormant. On a shelf sits a Precious Moment's Christian soldier, a gift from Caregiver Dawn that says "Life hands you challenges yet together you push on;" Dawn's reminder to Jen that no matter what age we are, we could always use a helping hand.
