Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries ©Community First Media Community First Media While pondering the meaning of life and its greater purpose, we must begin with the proper premise. Scripture teaches us that a person who lives their life as if there is no God is living life foolishly. Not only is it important to acknowledge God's existence, but we must also accept the fact that he is the Creator God. Recognizing that he is the originator of everything leads us to the sensible admission of his ultimate sovereignty. To live under any other supposition leads to a life of fatalism and hopelessness. A person who does not place God where he belongs, will eventually wake up to the gnawing question, "Is this all that life offers?" When we deny a life of self-dependence, and choose one of accountability to a Holy God, it will change our self-perspective. We will be convicted of our depravity. The conviction of our sinfulness creates in us the need for a Savior. The greatest decision a person will ever make is to reach out by faith and humbly trust Jesus Christ as their Savior. He offers salvation to all who will turn from their sin and trust him. Upon accepting God's plan of salvation, we will enter a life which transcends all other intentions. We are now a child of God, and he is our Heavenly Father. As we grow in our relationship with him, we will desire to please him and to glorify him. This new life will be characterized by the love he gives us for others. By his enabling grace, we can now live a life with an eternal purpose in mind. This indeed is life's greatest purpose.
