Attendees 55 and older can pick up a day pass at the ticket offi ce and watch all four games free. Another established practice for the day is the collection of food items for seniors who go to the Leona Neal Senior Cen- ter for help. This year's collection will focus on saltine crackers and 16-ounce plastic jars of peanut butter. "Peanut butter has a long shelf life so we can keep it in our pantry," says the center's Nutrition Coor- dinator Heather Ledbetter. "The need keeps on going, and we are thankful for anything we get." The Senior Center offers adults 55 and old- er exercise classes, a computer lab, legal aid, and screening for blood pressure and blood sugar. Seniors can receive assistance from the food pantry once a month. The pantry is supported solely by donations. The center will place donation boxes at the front gate of Keeter Stadium on opening day only. Gates will open at 8:00 AM; the fi rst game is at 10:00 AM; the remaining games are scheduled for 1:00, 4:00 and 7:30 PM. "Many of our ticket holders and a large seg- ment of our volunteer force are seniors," says local committee Chairman Eddie Holbrook. "We want to honor all seniors by making it possible for them to attend the fi rst four games of the tournament at no cost and by providing food for those who need it." The 2023 ALWS is scheduled for Aug. 10- 15. To learn more, visit www.americanlegion- worldseries.com. To purchase general admis- sion tickets, go online or call the ALWS offi ce at 704-466-3103. Day passes are available only at Keeter Stadium after the games begin.
