Born in Cleveland County on February 17, 1942, he was a son of the late Jim Devon Brittain and Vacie Mitchell Brittain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Geter Brittain and three sisters, Bonnie Brittain, Ann Reece and Florence Fisher. Survivors include two brothers, Dice Brittain and Alexander Brittain and wife Audrey all of Fallston and two sisters, Peggy Childers of Blacksburg, SC and Irma Goforth Cunningham of Gastonia. A Celebration of Life Service was held February 12, 2023 at Plainsview Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial was private. Carolyn was born Tuesday, January 2, 1945 in Rutherford County to the late Bunion D. Hensley and Queen Ester Mace Hensley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death CALVIN R. COLLINS Calvin R. Collins, age 71, of Cherryville, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023. He is survived by his chil- dren Robbie Collins (Lori) of Forest City, NC and Jason Collins of Forest City, NC; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren and numer- ous great grandchildren; and two sisters: Carolyn Johnson (Danny) of Shelby, NC and Judy Short (Phil) of Shelby, NC. Born March 23, 1951 in Rutherford County, NC Russell was the son of the late Calvin and Katie Collins. Mr. Collins served our country in the U.S. Army. TERRY SMITH Terry Smith, age 68, of Forest City, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at his residence. Terry was born Tuesday, July 13, 1954 in Rutherford County to Dorris Smith who resides in Forest City and the late William "Bill" Lee Smith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas "Tom" Smith. Besides his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his brothers and their wives, Charles Smith (Teresa) of by a son, Jimmy D. England; sisters, Barbara Bridges and Bardee Champion; and brothers, J.D. and Jack Hensley. Those left to cherish fond memories include her hus- band, Charles Lawson; son, Terry England (LeAnne) of Boiling Springs, NC; a daughter, Janice England of Ellenboro; a grandson; and three great-granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preced- ed in death by a brother, Arnold Cook and a sister, Mabellean Simpson. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Chapman Cook; two sons, Jeffrey Cook and Cindy of Knoxville, TN and Jarrett Cook and Nicki of Casar; two brothers, David Cook and Jimmy Cook both of Casar; three sis- ters, Carolyn Shoemaker of Statesville, Joyce Walker of Gastonia and Clara McEntire of Shelby and six grandchildren.
