In addition to constant supervision and assistance throughout the day, some caregivers sleep with one eye open for fear that their loved Pictured (L) Seth Johnson, one may get up during the age 96 and his daughter, carenight. Respite care can be very beneficial to the health and well being of the caregiver, as well as the person with life limiting conditions. Funding for respite care is provided by the N. C. Family Caregiver Support Program. Caregivers can choose in-home aide hours provided by a licensed in-home aide provider or they can choose for their loved one to attend adult day health. Consideration is given to caregivers that meet the following criteria. A caregiver • is giving care many hours every day for an extended period of time • has recognized they need a break to attend to others responsibilities • is of lower economic means that cannot pay for someone to give relief A client (the care receiver) • must be 60 years old • must have needs such as assistance with bathing, dressing, walking, feeding or toileting • must be willing to go to adult day health center or accept a professional licensed in-home aide provider into the home The service provides a time for the caregiver to take a break from the responsibilities of caregiving, to read a book, to go to an appointment, go for a day trip or just take a nap. Please call Care Solutions at 980-487-4777 for more information and to discuss your caregiving needs.
