The enduring sci-fi franchise goes where it hasn't often gone before with this animated series, which brings back Kate Mulgrew to voice a hologram version of her "Star Trek: Voyager" character Capt. Kathryn Janeway. However, the show really centers on her new trainees, six young aliens who learn about working together (and the workings of Starfleet) while traveling aboard an abandoned ship. Also featured in the voice cast are Brett Gray, Jason Mantzoukas, Ella Purnell and – as the tyrannical Diviner and his enforcer Drednok – John Noble ("Fringe") and Jimmi Simpson ("Westworld"). A second season was ordered even before this first one premiered. ››› (Not rated) "FRASIER: THE COMPLETE SERIES" Since Paramount+ recently (and finally) gave the green light to a sequel series, it's a good time for the original show to make its debut on Blu-ray. In this "Cheers" spinoff that became a classic, Emmy-winning sitcom in its own right, Kelsey Grammer continues his portrayal of the psychiatrist who migrates back to his hometown of Seattle and finds a new calling as a radio talk-show host. When he isn't dealing with callers – many of whom are represented by famous guest voices – he's given plenty to think about by his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and their father Martin (John Mahoney). Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin also are in the regular cast, and Shelley Long and Bebe Neuwirth turn up in their "Cheers" roles along the way. ››› (Not rated: AS) "THE STORY OF FILM: A NEW GENERATION" A follow-up by filmmaker Mark Cousins to an earlier documentary of his, this project extends the history of moviemaking to cover prominent releases between 2010 and 2021, with Oscar winners "Black Panther" and "Parasite" among the relatively recent titles included. Through clips and commentary, various features that have had impacts – socially, financially or both – are recalled, with note made of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the movie business. Indeed, releases from 2020 and beyond are somewhat sparse here, by virtue of the fact that the health situation caused most studios to revise their exhibition plans substantially. ››› (Not rated) "THE ENFORCER" Antonio Banderas has proven himself quite adept at screen action on a number of memorable occasions, and he's back in that mode in this tale (not to be confused with Clint Eastwood's same-named "Dirty Harry" installment). Banderas plays an underworld deputy whose tactics and effectiveness are well-known throughout Miami, but he takes a different view of his profession when his boss (Kate Bosworth) issues orders that could spell doom for a young runaway. The conscience- stricken tough guy then does a U-turn and makes himself a target by going rogue. Rap star 2 Chainz also appears. ›› (R: AS, P. V) (Also on Blu-ray and On Demand) "COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 9-MOVIE COLLECTION" More of the perennially popular Hallmark movies from past holiday seasons, packed with comfortably familiar elements, are compiled in this set. Among the titles included: "Check Inn to Christmas," with Hallmark staple Rachel Boston and Wes Brown as members of families whose inns are targeted for a takeover; "12 Gifts of Christmas," featuring "NCIS" regular Katrina Law as a woman hired to be a personal shopper for a busy executive (Aaron O'Connell); and "Christmas List," starring Alicia Witt as a suddenly deserted girlfriend whose solo status impacts her ability to fulfill everything on her list of Christmas traditions. ››› (Not rated) "CASABLANCA" One of the all-time greats among movies marks its 80th anniversary by making its move onto 4K Ultra HD, as it traces the renewed romance of cafe owner Rick (Humphrey Bogart) and resistance-leader's wife Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) in World War II-era Casablanca. The revival of their affair goes against Rick's desire to stay as detached as possible, but there's intrigue to spare as Ilsa seeks safe passage to America for herself and her husband (Paul Henreid). The superb cast of the 1942 Oscar winner also includes Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre and (as piano player Sam) Dooley Wilson. Directed by Michael Curtiz, the film yielded many iconic scenes, right up to the final one that forecasts "a beautiful friendship." The many special features include an episode of a mid-1950s television series that the picture inspired. ››› (Not rated: AS, V) Humphrey Bogart "In this show, it really shows the pain of reconnection. Sometimes, it can get a little too overwhelming and maybe you need to go take a break. And in relationships, it is ebb and flow." – Mayan Lopez of "Lopez vs. Lopez" on NBC " s r i o m ta r a L L "I'm a third-generation rodeo brat. I grew up on a working cattle ranch. And to get to do the things I'm doing now in this TV show, I don't think anybody in their wildest imagination could have come up with this." – Reba McEntire of "Big Sky" on ABC " r w to d d w h R S "When I look at (my daughter and new series co-star) Mayan, I can see the different times in her life every day as I look at her be 5 and 10 and 13.
